During my Easter Ride at Wingello SF I noticed I had to keep adjusting the clutch. It was fine for general riding but hard to get back into neutral i.e. the clutch was dragging.

Adjusted the cable at the perch and all was good then it started again, 3 times by the end of the two days :S

So this morning I decided to investigate and was glad I did ;) All looked fine until I disconnected the cable at both ends and pulled it out as far as I could.

Just as well I did, anyway $27 later all is good. :)

There is no way this would have lasted for the duration of the Bday ride in fact I’m lucky it lasted as long as it did :P

Nice find Adam ;) Sometimes if the bike is parked in a quiet area you can pull the clutch in and out and you will hear the frayed inner cable clicking (catching) in the outer. Found the Tenere one doing that recently

Fail to prepare is preparing to fail ;)

Now theirs a coincedence Adam , my last ride in Coffs had me adjusting the clutch cable on my Drz at the perch too. I did throw it down the widow maker first , then noticed a heap of free play and hard to find neutral.

I’m off to check mine too now !

    Cheers

Checked my cable and all was ok. I gave it a good lube and I’m going to order a spare and cable tye it next to the fitted one just in case it fails on the trail.

It must be the season for cables, as in the last month, I’ve done a throttle cable and a decomp cable on the WR and a throttle cable on the missus’ KL250. Luckily I was able to get home on the WR and the KL let go in the carpark.

Hi Nick,I think if yu going to go to the trouble to zip tye the new cable to the old one ,just fit the new one n be done with it…Better to be able to do the work in yu shed than out in the bush.
    Cheers Teza.
