Good stuff Moto, into the brethren you come, the smell of castor oil in your nostrils, and premix in yer blood.
Eric Gorr shall be your new diety, and the bible shall “tuning two strokes for fun and power”

and nevermore shall you be required to change a shim or grind a valve.

I’ve never changed a shim or ground a valve in my life

My 450 has been a great bike, the 300 has a lot to live upto.

Will the 300 be the bike to keep a smile on my dial

I went from 08 450 to 09 300 bloody better believe it will. Will take 4 or 5 rides though

Will the torque be sufficient to keep me happy coming from the 4 banger?

theres plenty of torque.you will just have to rev it a bit more till you get used to ridin it at first and figuring out how the torque works on a 300 then no problems

Will my steering damper swap straight over?

    yes

Will I get someone else to swap my PivotPegz over?

    no

Will my 777 race number make me go fully sik factory fast?

    of course it will

Will I get used to the lack of engine braking?

after you hit a couple of trees an overun corners on your first 2 to 4 rides then sure you will. then you will hate engine braking and enjoy using brakes and sliding in effectively

Will I get so annoyed with mixing oil that I burn the bike, claim on insurance and go buy a Berg?

its not that hard write out a table on oil mixtures. get a measuring cup/device and mix. easy.

All very valid questions…..soon to be answered

i went through the gammitt of emotions (thats alot) as you did. the main point i will make is this. the 300 for me is a better bike. lighter for me, faster through tight stuff, makes you a better rider. every time i look at it it gives me a stiffy. the 450 didnt do this. When i have a stiffy i feel good.

    i hope this helps.

    cheers

Mixing oil at 40:1 I in my mathematical wisdom devised that 0.25 or 0.025 x no of litres gets how much you add.
Tolerances are like chipper stuff so don’t stress to much.

Four Strokes – 1 power stroke – 3 wear strokes

    Ollie

Not to mention all the wasted material on top of the stroking action.
Be a good half dozen 2 stroke pistons wasted in every 4 stroke head region.

It runs at 60:1 which is 16.66666666666666666667 ml’s per litre ;) Like someone else mentioned I’ll do a little chart. It doesn’t detract from the fact that I have to have a little chart and piss about with it in the first place though!

Nice responses tf2, good to see you made the switch and are loving it. I think I’ll be right, just playing devils advocate

And that will be so easy to work out when you stop at a servo to top up and add 7.6 litres

    Easy eh

    Exactly!

I’ll have the measurements written down and will know close enough after the first few rides :)

It might vary between 30:1 and 90:1 though

Is it true that some Euro 2Ts can run with 100:1 fuel mix?

    They can, yes.

but it may not be for very long :silly:

    i’m unsure too.

but a guy testing for Penrite oils when they were developing their 2T oils, tested bikes at 100:1 to see how long it would take for them to detonate

Well it seems that we have the answer to this question. I was confused as to why Moto raced under an assumed name but it became apparent through the clip as I’m sure you’ll see.

Keep your head down Moto, there’s only one way to head from here… actually given your apparent navigational ability there’s probably several ways you might head but I’m sure you’ll get there mate ;)
