Great work girls
doing a top job and preserving those bikes is the important thing !!
I rode Steves BMW F800 around the High country this year and maybe accidentally did a jump or 2 on it and I think the shock got warm occasionally but never failed , what’s happening to make these other BMWs fail I wonder ??
Go team OBT !!! Loving it

Its a worry Nick eh the BMW 800 have a known weak point with the top shock bolt, people fit different bolts and there is a kit for a mod I have seen at Teknik’s.
Mickp I am sure knows a bit more about themTB

July 30, 2012 at 10:16 pm #226983Everyone is in Goondawindi (Spelling) meaning they have completed todays leg and are on schedule for a 14 day finish
I expect the girls will phone this evening so I will get the goss
Spoken with Steve, they are doing some jobs on his bike this evening. Steve’s bike still has oil carry over problems on the constant high rpm engine sections  Been doing it since day one Clubby’s doesnt but.
I asked at Glouster had it been over filled and they thought it hadnt but werent sure as ut had its final oil change at Yamaha. I checked both breathers etc. The fact it doesnt blow smoke or blow oil seals etc good chance its been over filled. Tonight they are dropping the out and measuring it
More later if the girls ring

July 30, 2012 at 11:25 pm #226986Amy just rang what a funny phone call! The girls are pumped and are well on target. Amy spoke about how Kat and her make a great team and ones strength is the others weakness etc. They have enjoyed a golden run, both girls raved about Rocky River Rd which as Nick knows is one of my all time favs. Kat said and I quote she creamed her pants over Rocky River Rd and whats to return and do a race or something through there as fast as she can!!
Kat said she is now a Kat with only 7 lifes left after a close shave with two roos this arvo. The front one she just missed the second tail whipped her as it tried to miss her.
They went to the local Honda dealer when they got into town and ol mate went nuts over Kat’s XR400. She got mate to clean the front window and stick a OBT sticker on and she and mate got down and took a photo
God its hard to remember everything spoken about :pinch:
They are having a ball and being safe it seems
TB
Edit
Steve just rang and yes the bike was over filled with oil  . It is supposed to hold 2.6 Ls and had 3.2 Ls in it  Thats why it was pumping it out! First question I in Gloucester but was told it was right. The dipstick cant be accessed with the Rally bash plate and big tank  . They are fairly convinced it hasnt damaged any seals or they are any leaks so its all good
More later
August 10, 2012 at 9:33 am #226936Well sadly we have lost a few days of the girls exciting trip because of the web dramas ( maybe Chris can pull hem back from wherever it is the shit hides)
Anyway today will be the last day for the girls and guys. They are spending the night in Yass and will complete their final leg into Wisemans today. Homer was telling me last night it will be a full big day for them. Steve may have to miss the last day and scoot home due to family reasons
Dejay and I are riding down to meet them around lunch time between Oberon and Abercrombie. Originally we had planned to leave home at 3am and ride out of Yass with them but as I am typing this from the Gold Coast airport that isn’t going to happen. My flight got canned yesterday arvo due to the winds in Sydney. We have booked a room at the pub incase celebrations get into full swing
Good luck today girls on your last leg, the section between Oberon and Wisemans was actual the route I gave to Homer as a suggestion for the rally that he picked up and used
