Firstly congrats Ladies, you are both legends, can’t wait for the ride report!
So TB’s flight got canned and he was due in Saturday morning, which ment we met everyone at Oberon, was kinda bummed about not doing Abercrombie, but oh we’ll it’s not going n e where!
I was a little anxious to get on the bike, 2 months off to heal from surgery I was very keen!
Kitted up and headed west with very a large transport section (to Oberon), It was great law abiding sensible fun! Abit of a chill in the air, and snow on the ground we arrived at Oberon!
I got off the bike to say g’day to everyone,(which I didn’t really get around to until we got to Wisemans) and noticed by tool bag was gooooooooone!!!
Slightly annoyed I rode off as quick as I could to try and find it and not slow up the APC battle hardened veterans! But no luck (secretly I don’t care too bad because I love buying new tools), but still abit of a hassle!
Anyways, I headed back to find the crew and found them about half way back, good to know they were still on schedule, I slotted in behind and swept!
When we hit the dirt proper I realize how rusty I was, locked up in to the first corner, tip toed through the next, and well the third was not pretty, but oh we’ll, still had fun!
Fortunately the ride itself was for the most part uneventful but loads and loads of fun! When Amy jumped on the big Tenere, I got to pick up the pace abit and follow along!
On the correct side of the road we had a close encounter of the postie kind, when two blokes, flew past, lol it look like fun, TB believes they were running unconventional fuels, I was too busy laughing to notice!!
After the smooth and quick run into Wisemans, I pulled aside to let the ladies lead in! After everyone went by, I looked across to see TB do a great wheelie up the hill from abit past the ferry to near the top of the hill, pretty funny considering it was on the WR250!!!
It was a great night to follow, and I’m glad I got to help the ladies celebrate the conquering of their ride!
Plenty of drinks had, a creepy old dude sat and watched, a few drunken phone calls, a pissing possum got TB and his bundy…….Twice! Great fun!Congrats to everyone who entered, completed and will complete the massive effort of 7,400 odd KLM of the greatest country on earth!
Top effort to both girls for sticking it out, and helping clubby and Steve along lol!!
And the Hattah! Unreal, very jealous!
Have fun resting, reminiscing and fixing bikes!Dejay!
PS. Go the DR650s callem what u want, first to finish the 2012 APC!

I bet the “Creepy Old Dude) you speak of was the dude with the beard & hat in the car out front
He was there when I arrived at 3pm and just sat there in the car, smoking & chatting to himself
At first I thought he was on the phone (handsfree) but no, He got out a while later, went inside for a bit, then came out & stood at his rear passenger window talking to himself in the reflection of the window  :whistle:LOOPY OLD PRICK, occasionaly he would get out, open the boot and talk to something (or someone)
Weird shit I tell ya

August 13, 2012 at 1:43 pm #226775What a way to finish an epic ride with our mates supporting us both on and off the road. It was special seeing TB, DJ and Smick400 make the effort thru freezing and ice conditions to be there for us. Oberon was where we parted company with our other support team Clubby, Steve (advmoto) and Glen in the support vehicle. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to limp home without them and their oil. the ride to Wiseman’s Ferry was easy going but when your tied and hurting it feels like hard work. The ultimate was seeing Eagle yelling on our arrival into the car park at the pub.
the celebrations were on and TB presented Amy and I with a special commoration that will be a mandatory pack for every future adventure ride. More will be revealed in the ride report. We slept at the retreat that night and gladly woke up late and enjoyed a breakfast without having to woof it down.
smick400 left the route option back to his place (Tuggerah) to me and couldn’t help myself so we did some more dirt to Buckerty but slowly as the front tyre was shot.
It was amazing going into this ride with Amy, sharing the good, bad and sometimes ugly aspects that always occur on challenges like this. Our goal was to start this together and finish it together …..that was achieved …… Thanks to the tremendous support from OBT’ers, the Yamaha team, and the many friends we had the opportunity to meet and ride with.
detailed ride report to come.
August 13, 2012 at 1:57 pm #227347Well done girls!
Now it is time to dust off the little bikes and cash in on your Bello getaway.

Bol you never surprise me with your one liners….. the butt handled the punishment but both hands are numb from too much vibrations on the bars running at high speed. This injury presents other challenges but yes the massaging is helping…. its good sometimes I can’t feel my finger tips…HAHAHHAHAH :silly:
August 13, 2012 at 10:58 pm #227395I can’t say it was an “effort” riding down to Oberon to escort the APC LEGENDS home…it was a friggin hoot!…awesome sunset over Cattai Ridge road…blasting down the Bell Road after dark with the note of the 625 echoing off the rock walls!…top night in the Mount Vic Pub…then up early to roost Coxs River road…then exploring the pine forests around Oberon in the SNOW!
never the less…all that hardship was worth it to ride in with the girls, to complete their epic ride…with TB and Dejay as guard of honour…and then seeing Eagle there cheering them in…it really made it seem like a “finish” worthy of the event…well done Old Bulls…great stuff…I think TB may have got some dust in past his goggles…he seemed to have a bit of a tear in his eye…
cheers, Mick.
August 13, 2012 at 11:06 pm #226778My missus reckons I was mad to drive the 2hrs each way to see a couple of bikers roll up to a pub,,,
But I enjoyed every minute of itJust wish I could have stayed & partied on a bit ,,,,,
August 27, 2012 at 3:19 am #226779Well we are both rested after completing the grueling 15 Day APC Rally and now it’s time to provide you all with a day to day ride report and photo’s of our experience. After discussing how we approach this it was evident that we both had unique experiences that are hard to capture in a combined report therefore we have decided to provide both of our perspectives for each day.
Before we start this report Amy and I know we wouldn’t have completed this Rally without the support from:
1. Old Bull Community with a special mention to Pete The Wulf, MickP, Fish , Boulder, Eagle and Dejay
2. Smick400 and Dan for their efforts on getting our bikes prepared and supporting us during the ride.
3. Steve (Woofie) from Adventure Moto and Clubby (Trailzone) for their help on the ride
4. Glen (Yamaha support vehicle) providing advice, guidance and mechanical support… and in my case a vehicle to transport my bike to Port Augusta)
5. Lastly it was Trailboss (ala Charlie who looked after the ‘Angels’) who was there during our preparations, at the start line, with us the first day, on the phone each night giving us guidance and rode in on the last day… then helped us enjoy a celebratory drink or two at the finish…. What a legend to have on our team.So we wanted to say a big thank you and hope you enjoy the read and more importantly entices you to get out their and see what Australia has to offer for Adventure Riding.
