I’m with everyone else in wishing ya good luck Katgirl. How much fun is it gunna be  ride safe
October 4, 2010 at 11:04 am #187824I just received a phone call from Kat. She had just arrived at Uluru (Spelling? ) Ayers rock.
Today they did 400kms of rock and sand. She proudly said she is one of only two that havent fallen off the bike in the 3000+ kms they have covered so far. She also said there was only one bike that hasnt had any problems which is the mighty Honda CRF230
They have had blown rear shocks, water pumps, radiators, flats amongst other things go wrong with the KTM’s and BMW’s.
She said that the pivot pegz, the Scott damper and the air hawk are her saviours
She sounded very upbeat although she admitted she struggled the last 100kms today. She said the Simpson is next, tomorrow is a lay day and she is going to change the oil in the mighty CRF230, which the others have nick named the postie bike

Thanks for the update TB. I’ve been wondering how Kat’s going. Sounds like she’s doing us proud (not that I’m surprised at all).
Cheers,
Cathi
October 5, 2010 at 4:10 am #179196Thanks TB for the update,
So Adrians XR has had issues, and Kat has had none …. lol.
Awesome.
Kudos to you TB for helping ( well, mostly doing ) the updates and pre trip maintenance on the CRF.
Just goes to show that prevention is better than cure.Cheers.

October 5, 2010 at 5:28 am #179197Roger that, Thought he shipped the XR over too.
Come to think of it, I recall him saying something about keeping the XR in cotton wool
, sentimental reasons.
Didnt want the desert killing his bike.October 7, 2010 at 8:28 pm #188423I got a text from Kat yesterday. They were heading towards Finke but some roads were closed. She mentioned before that Adrian was killing it as far as the riding was going, riding like a champ and was having no problems.
They have a spot tracker as well now but it hasnt been updating for what reason I dont know. http://www.outbackadventuretreks.com.au/blog.php scroll down to the bottom of the page

November 4, 2010 at 9:16 am #188655So what has happened to Kat, is she still out there somewhere?
November 8, 2010 at 10:03 am #190167Kat is back. I’ve spoken to her a couple of times and it sounds like it was an awesome trip full of challenges and achievements. I’m sure writing a ride report for for an experience like that will take a while (as will settling back into the “real” world I expect)but she is safe and sound.
Her bike is still on it’s way back but I’m sure once it’s back she’ll be out riding with us again
