Flying for leisure is fun, in fact I wouldn’t mind learning. Flying for any other reason is just down right boring, especially if you’ve flown as much as I have.

If you have some spare pennies Aaron give them to me, otherwise getting up and flying wouldn’t be a bad way to blow some!

    Nah im broke…….5 kids,
    oh and the missus:laugh:

its really not to bad on the pocket,
need a few to go and its a ball (cover fuel & plane hire)
the biggest prick is commiting to the 2hrs a month to KEEP the licence, unless you have your own plane.

It only costs $1000 to be able to take people flying in training areas then another 1500 to get your navs. Navigation assesment then you can go as far as you like oh and guess what,,,,,,

    NO DRINK DRIVING LAWS!!!!

ive seen 65-70 yo fellas fall out simply because ther are too pissed to walk (a trip to ayres rock comes to mind when i was learning with my grandfather , we had the rellies from england down.
You should have seen the faces on the airstrip when we opened the door and tinnies rolled down followed by my uncle!,.

Im sure the Jap touros loved it ,

What a aussie spirit ey! :silly: 😆

No I wouldn’t bother unless you need it.
I only had the controls once on a “learn to fly with us demo” and sometimes regret not getting the ticket but I think I might be dead now if I had.

My brother and father were taught “12 hours between the bottle and the throttle” when they learnt to fly. Actually it may have been 24 hours. Anyway…

Learn in a Jabiru ultralight and convert to General Aviation. Much more cheaperer! I know they are a safe plane because my brother designs them!

Yuri, who is a OBT member and lives in Hungary is learning to fly and he sent me some photos and he is learning in a Jabiru. They must be good little planes if the export them to Europe.

Yeah Mick, they export them worldwide. You can imagine the administration paperwork of dealing with the equivalent of CASA in places like China, Europe and the USA! They have to have a good product to be able to back it up the way they do. I just love that they design and build the whole plane in Bundaberg from scratch! B)

Out of interest, the founders of Jabiru were originally designers and builders of sugar cane harvesters, and just decided to build a plane. It worked so they did more and it grew from there!

They make an 8 cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled engine that weighs just 120kg but puts out 180hp! Their 4 cylinder engine weighs just 60kg and puts out 85hp – that’s probably worth strapping in an XR on a power/weight basis!

    where did they do this?

12 hours ey , might have to let the ol fellas from kempsay know , nah i’ll probly get a clip around the ears and some ‘thankless lil shit’ type comment:laugh:
