    STM,

There is truth in what you say here. Back in 2005 when I was looking for a XR400 (now owned by OWL 01) I got so pissed off trying to find the right machine and was ready to give up. Any way,I had to go to Canberra on business for a couple of days and while away my wife found the ideal bike. The fact that it was located in Melbourne didn’t bother her either. She called me and said you’re in Canberra, just keep going to Melbourne and get. This totally blew me away however, I did take her advice.

So in summation, they do care when something as important to us Guy’s is bugging us and in your case Teza, maybe a round table is in order.

Yeh, totaly agree with you guyes, thats the angle that I’m trying to work on with her:whistle: But theres still a ways to go:(

    Ha Ha TB,

No that’s all over now. It was a hard decision for her, dirt bikes for me and the kids or Sunday Mass with the hippercrits. She chose the hippercrits. Me and the kids still have our bikes and have no issue starting them at 10 am on a Sunday morning and hitting the dirt.

Most women are sensible when it comes to these sorts of things. I was just unlucky back then. But hey, look at me know. Kicking back in single life paradise living the dream and me and the kids still have our bikes.

I have to agree with owl 02’s logic. After the Nabiac ride I sat down with my wife & explained how much I enjoyed it but my wr was not suitable to do this type of riding ( it hated the hwy ). before then there was no way she was going to let me have another bike. so after a long chat 2 new bikes coming my way & she is even helping me look for them & all the gear to go with the ADV bike. so happy days for me.

/Yeh, thats great, good luck to you with that. If I loved road bikes my wife would be happy to come touring with me and probably get right into it. But dirt bikes are my love and my space, witch is cool with her but seeing me crashed out of action again has freaked her out this time.
She dose know i will be needing another bike pretty soon though.

    G’Day Teza,
    Tough joices there!
As much as getting rid of the wife may fix some of your problems the fact is she will take most of what you own with her so that’s not a real option.
The RMX is a great bike and i used to own one so i have some experience on parting with it.
As yours is registered i am assuming that it is later than a 98 model? the fact they are old technology.
There was a time lag between the sale of my RMX and the purchase of the KTM but the memory was still strong and compared to the later bikes the RMX was a bit of a dinosaur.
What’s this got to do with anything i hear you ask.
Have you considered that the RMX is not as forgiving as you might think. For their time they were certainly more refined than other models available but they are still a little unpredictable.
Maybe an update to a later model 4 stroke would help to keep you in the saddle (it did for me).
The Yamaha WR250F comes to mind the pre 05 models are well priced sure you don’t get electric start but your used to kicking anyway.:)
You’ll get usable torque so that you can attack hills at a little slower pace.
The power curve makes slippery tracks easier and they are light and forgiving when you make a mistake.

As far as the jinx goes you will be rid of it.
And the wife will be happy to let you ride a bike that isn’t possesed.

I also suffer from issues when selling bikes, the money gets sucked into some black hole that everyone but you seems to be able to justify.
So what i do is start looking for the new bike at the same time as selling the old one.
I try and line up the sale with the purchase that way i get and spend the cash at the same time (just a thought)

    Rebore.

    G’day Teza,

I think Rebore has nailed it. After your sky/earth/sky/earth/crunch! I got to ride your rmx down the hill, through the creek and up the other side. I think they’re a fine old machine. If I had the funds, I’d love to have one in the shed….a great example of how bikes use to be….raw and aggressive. But, as you get older, you need all the help you can get. The RMX aint interested in helping you! I think a newer machine (like the KLX/DRZ/WR) with their better brakes, better suspension, better steering, more managable power, better ergonomics etc. would reduce fatigue and the chance of crashing ?

You may have to save a little more money to update a little, but in the long term…the amount of extra incident free enjoyment and reduced medical fees will prove well worth while.

As for the missus……..she’s part of team Tez and needs to know what your thinking and why. She’ll be right.

Thanks heeps Crash,I realy apresiate your input. As much as I love riping around on the old bike,I also realise that it’s not what I need. At this stage of my life it’s all about keeping my self in good nick for work and every thing els for that mater. I’m looking forward to riding some different bikes as the RMX is the only bike I’v riden for years, but I always did think that it was a bit front heavy, but will still finde it hard to get rid of it as I know that there will be a bit of a lag between bikes, and since I got it rego’d I’v been so happy to be back in the sadle again.
Any way thanks again for your help out at Hampton that day Crash, looking back I was totaly rooted out there.
    Cheers Teza.

Ok It’s time for a new bike, the shoulder has heeld up for the most part but my hands are still a bit wrecked.Any way I’m ready to give it a blast, but cant get into the RMX whithout greaf from the misus, pluss I’m ready for a ride that I can spend the $$ on, and set it up just for me so It handles great and I love it:cheer: :cheer:
I’v got my eye on an 06 TE 510 husky in great nick, but i’m yet to go for a blast on it,I’v climbed all over it and think that it’s a good thing, and best of all it only weighs in at 109 kg.Weight meens a lot to me cos after two stuffed sholders I’v lost a lot of uper body strength, so picking up heavy bikes of the ground is out, for a wile at leest.
I’v always liked the Huskies but only ever had Jap bikes.
So I’m just after a bit of feed back on the huskies, anything to look out for?
    Cheers Teza.
