Thanks to Menace for organising the weekend!

thanks to TB, Mal and Bubba for making the treck down;)

thanks to JAK and Chop for the fuel! as some dumb bunny prepared to fail :(

thanks to Don and his lovely wife for all the looking after, again someone for got a decent extension lead  .

oh and thanks to Mrs Mal for the white rocky road;) it is grouse !!
good to meet Built :woohoo:  šŸ˜† oh umm i mean Billt and Dave. and to put faces to TB and Mal.

150kms of good fun, except for the big off in the 1st 5min  :S

but only a broken tail light lens, a blinker, and a bruised ego šŸ˜†

took 3 fellow riders to help to drag poor k8ii the 5′ back up to the track. they prob. not ever read this but i thank them again.

after that i did not have another off/ agronomy refresher until mud slippery rocks took control of my front and i had a lay down. so all in all had a top time.

and i owe Mr Dastardly an unreserved apology for implying he was a fake! although i cannot say i definitely met him for sure. however i accused D.D. of hiding behind a persona. and i have only just woken up to myself that , that is exactly what i had been doing the last 12 months. :(

i also apologise to TB and Menace for the poo they have had to sort out because of what i started over “that picture”.

thanks to Kenda tyres and toylok ;) sorry Menace your lucky orange E 99 ticket wasn’t a winner. but my purple E 34 was!! :woohoo: new rear tyre. Dave’s purple E ticket was good also getting a 5.5m cut resistant cable toy lok system.

all in all had a top weekend. ;) B) :woohoo:  :side: :) :) ;)
the few pics i have will be posted in due time.

cool on the pic TB! can’t wait to see em!

i didn’tĀ want to waste time getting the camera out of my back pack and taking pics of my poor k8ii in the predicament i got her into. as i wanted to finish the 1st loop in time to do the second loop.

Arrived at the Pub in Eilden as organised but someone forgot to let me know all the Old Bulls had left and gone back to the caravan park. :(

Arrived at the park to find all enjoying a few quiet ales around a fire. Great setting but got bloody cold once the sun went down. Could not believe the old Choppa in shorts and t shirt until he went to bed. It was great to meet TB, Mal and Bubba who made the trip from NSW. And also Bubbas girl who fitted right in.

TB telling a story to anyone who would listen.
    22052010054.jpg

    Even TBā€™s stories bored some.
    22052010055.jpg

A barbie was cooked although i had a bit of trouble keeping me eyes and mind on the job when a six foot Amazonian woman in tight leggings was hanging around. Unfortunately no photos of that.

Most were in bed about 11 ish but not before Menace channelled the Kato God.

Next morning we were up at 5.30 to hit the road arriving at the ride start at 6.30. Here bikes were unloaded at put through scrutineering before being put in the biovac area.
    23052010056.jpg

Aido announced to all he was running in the Kenda dash which is a 30 metre race in full riding gear in the hope of being the first person to grab a box containing a Nolan helmet. Several dribbles of wee were seen as he paced around trying to keep the nerves at bay. Alas when it come time to race to pulled the pin, something about being scared i heard him say.

Before we knew it was time to start. The sound of 517 bike all starting was deafening and it was hard to tell whether your own bike was running. Because of the number we all didnā€™t start at the same time so we regrouped just up the road but this was the last time we were all to ride together. The first loop was fairly basic riding with a few slippery turns put in to keep you honest. Eventually we came to a fork where it was posted easy or hard way. No names will be mentioned as to who took the easy way but lets just say the two that did could talk about it on their way back to NSW.
This is a video of TB going over the erosion jumps lifting his legs of the pegs doing his best impersonation of a superman jump although its hard to see. And i donā€™t say idiot when im being roosted i say ā€œf*#cking idiotā€. I also said this a few other times throughout the ride at some out of control idiot overtook me at warp speed but in no control whatsoever. Funny thing was these punks were passed by me when it came to hill climbs. Suck on that.

Some of the riding was in areas that were burnt out in last years fires where 173 people died. This shows some of the devastation.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctM_YOnTUhQ

This one shows a snotty little climb where people stopped to watch the carnage.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWGEXOymZHM

This one shows some of the typical ambition outweighing ability.

How to pick up a DRZ when its facing the wrong way on a 30 degree rocky slippery hill.

Having another go at the climb but stopping to help a poor prick on a GS. Poor prick had no traction.

The order that you arrived back after the first loop dictated when you started the second loop with a 20 minute break.
The second loop was much harder and technical than the first but a lot of fun. By time i got back Mal and TB had already loaded the bikes and had had their meal that was supplied. All made it back safely and tales were swapped before the NSW boys and girl loaded up and headed off. The rest of us went to the presentations where XY cleaned up winning a rear Kenda tyre and a bike lock. All up about $350 worth. After that there was nothing left to do but load up the bikes and head of very tired and sore but with some great memories.

Thanks to Menace for organising this and for also turning up even though he couldnā€™t ride. Full credit.

here are the few pics i got. not very exciting but they add to the story.

    IMG_0073.jpg
Aido and Dave to the left of where all our bikes were lined up, in the start area after scrutineering, about 1/2 of the bikes are here at this stage. you can just see Aido’s bike in the very far right, he said it was just his luck to be starting from behind a tree!

    IMG_0074.jpg
TB is stumped even before it’s all started, Mal could not be bothered taking his camel pack off to have to put it back on again. but we didn’t realise the start would be almost over an hour away.

    IMG_0076.jpg
1/2 an hour after we parked our bikes in the start area, bikes were still arriving.
(Mal just making sure his hair is still photo worthy :P  )

    IMG_0075.jpg
Menace trying his best not to look disappointed :( , Billt looking cool as a cucumber.

    IMG_0079.jpg
this was about the most still Aido was before the start, keeping warm as you can see.
(TB was doing his best to wind Aido up, we were not sure if it was working or not)

    IMG_0077.jpg
the scrutineering line, to the right of the pic is the sound truck, just in front of the scrutineering tent.

    IMG_0078.jpg
just to the right of the scrutineering tent was the campground A, about 500 meters or so further on in the distance is were our cars and trailers were parked.

    IMG_0080.jpg
this is one of the only pics i had time to take while on the loop, this was on the first loop at a hairpin corner, where i had pulled up to remove my number plate ect. that had grabbed the rear tyre on one of the bigger erosion mounds.

a young bloke ( ) came in too hot and went off the track, 2 other guys had stopped to fix a flat front that had caused the rider to go off in the same spot a few minuets before i stopped to take off the rego plate.

    IMG_0081.jpg
the guy on the right is the mate of the guy that was stopped to fix the flat, helping the rider back up to the track after we dragged his bike up.

    IMG_0082.jpg
TB happy but ready to hit the road home, i had just pulled up after my 2nd loop, TB and Mal were that far ahead of me they had time to change, load their bikes and gear, grab their free meal and drink and time to eat it. they must have just been waiting long enough to say their good byes to everyone.

    IMG_0083.jpg
left of the pic: JAK’s bike was already loaded too, Billt’s and Dave’s (i hope his name is dave  ) bikes in the middle of the pic.

that is the sum total of all the pics i had time to take.

but was a great day, mad better by being able to attend with a top group of blokes B) ;)

Logged onto the site last night and theres heaps of photos of a group of riders riding around the loop posing in front of the direction arrows etc. At the riders brief on the Sunday morning the organiser was none to happy about “idiots” riding the loops on the Satuday putting his volunteers safty at risk.

What a top weekend. Met a few of the Mexicans. Chopper, Aido, Jak, Bilit, Dave and XY (not a Mexican but dam close). All great guys. Big thanks to Menace for organising and then showing up for moral support. Cheers mate that must have been hard to watch us ride when you couldnā€™t.

    Highlights

    – The drive down with TB and Bubba
    – Meeting the Mexicans
    – The accommodation and small town.
    – The event was well organised and arrowed.
    – The volunteers at the checkpoints and at scrutineering were all very happy and helpful.
    – Not falling off my bike.
    – The bike not having any issues.
    – The conditions and tracks were just awesome. Some of the nicest trails Iā€™ve been on.
    – Riding along chatting TB in the Bluetooth.
    – Sitting around the camp fire talking shit Saturday night.
    – Learning Bill to change tyres. Sorry Bill Iā€™m not much of a teacher.
    – Watching Aido learn to back his trailer. Good effort mate you picked it up real quick.
    – XYs rocky road. Yummmm
    – Having a beer with the Menace. Always good fun.
    – The drive home learning about trucks and their engines.

    Lowlights

    – Bloody both kinds of music on the ipod.
    – Washing the sticky mud of the bike.

Thanks again to the Mexicans I had a excellent weekend.

Thanks to TB for driving down and back and to Bubba for well been in the back seat and cleaning out the esky before midday.

    Great videos Jak.

    Nice pics XY.

Oh and yes TB and I took the soft (easy) route. I made a decsion that there would probably be a bottle neck at any hard section, so enjoyed a fast open trail ride with no one else around and TB thought he might catch up with his new friend on a WR who was roosting the hell out of everyone he passed. Didn’t see him though. Lucky for him I reckon.

I concur to the above decision and gave no argument only my full support I didnt need to be in a bottle neck with some of the knobs that were riding and there was some f*#!&$ts there. The other thought was I can ride hills anytime  ;)

well its been a long time coming, the famous Kenda rally!

and i had to sit it out with a broken back…and to be honest thats why ive been slack with the reportage but i cant sit at the PC for more than 10 minutes at a time without crying from pain or dribbling with relief

it was a great weekend and even though i didnt ride, i wouldnt have missed it for the world. im stoked everyone was happy with the accomm and stuff. it made it all worthwhile to see the smiles. especially Aido, our new team leader el mexicho, who spent the whole weekend either trembling with fear, shaking in anticipation or weeing with excitememnt

saturday is a bit of a blurr to me in places. i had forgotten all about channelling Lord Kato   and the other various amounts of shenaniganisms goin on

ill put up some pics and a vid later today…..time for a nap ;)
