Polly pulled out due to an excessive lifestyle
Tyeates DNF’d with a flat early on
Kevdog bailed with a hammy injury after lunch :pinch:
The rest of us made it back to the cars in one piece
Although Shirley had a few scratches (you had to be there  )
I had a ball :woohoo: and being up front had no dust
Thanks Jeffro for sweeping, and all the other boys for coming along.
I’ll have a vid or two tomorrow.
Adam.
October 4, 2014 at 9:07 am #259739Thanks Adam for organising the ride
Early start from home and at Adams ready to ride by 8am
Quick intro and we were off under the hwy and into the bush. First singles and Adam was on the ground at the first bend……
As this was my first ride for awhile I was taking it easy and keen not to hit the ground………..All was going well till I went up a hill on the wrong line. Got turned around and back down.
Second attempted went same line dickhead I didn’t learn. Over I went and was like them guys that chase that cheese roll down that steep hill. I couldn’t stop so I decides to jump forward and let my ribs stop me…………….. :pinch:
Third attempted all good but ribs where a little sore…………………
Continued on and the tight singles just kept us all on our toes. Some great little hill climbs and drops to make things interesting. The pace was good and plenty of banter between the group as we all took turns at struggling in the conditions………………
Marble hill again kept it reputation in tact as plenty of carnage……………………. :woohoo:
Had lunch at marble hill and took in the view……………..I was hurting in the ribs but having a great time back on the bike……………………… :woohoo:
Almost home and going over a rock ledge I extended my left leg. Not sure where the sniper was but felt like I was shot in the leg and I went down like a bag of shit…………………………… :ohmy:Snapped hammy and I’m taking the easy way back to the cars…………………….
Great bunch of guys to ride with had great fun and laughs cant wait to do it again. Thanks Adam for leading and Geffro for sweeping.
Couple of days now on the lounge with ice on the hammy and southern comfort in my glass of coke.
Cheers Kevdog
October 4, 2014 at 11:16 am #259747Thanks go to Kevdog for inspiring the ride, Adam for organising and leading and everyone else that came along. I struggle with names sometimes and today was one of those days, probably because not have had much time I the saddle this past 18 months or so I was a bit nervous as to how I would go. Polly was a no show due to the dreaded gout so it was a crew of 8 that started the day.
We headed off under the highway and pretty much straight into some flowing singles to get warmed up and it wasn’t long before Adam hit the deck.
Soon after we came out onto the main trail and Tim had a flat front. While he was trying to pump it up the rest of us headed back down the trail we had just come up then detoured to the right for a warm up hill then set off again. Not long after Tim’s tyre was flat again and as he was running tubeless he decided to bail out and head back to the cars, and then there were seven.
The rest is a bit of a blur, we played on Kevdog’s cheese roll hill where he stepped of the bike and ended up running down the hill before going base over apex and hurting his ribs but soldiered on.
That’s Kev halfway down after attempt number 2
After that it was single after single with the odd testing section to keep us on our toes. We got to the top of Marble Hill and had a quick bite to eat around 12:30.
The reason they call it Marble Hill
From there we started making our way back via as many singles and side tracks as Adam could find I think. A few of us were starting to do it a bit tough so Adam said he would cut out the trickier sections though I think he may have forgotten he said that at one point.
It was about this time that Kev was shot in the hammy by a sniper and headed for the cars so now we were 6.
We continued on the singles for another half an hour or so. I’d had some cramping and arm pump in my right arm just before lunch and was thinking that I was glad it was gone when the same thing happened to my left hand and arm. One of the other riders was doing it tough with leg and arm cramps as well so it was decided to call it quits and head back to the cars via the main trail (though some of the singles were smoother than the “road”.
We got back to the cars just before 2 which was perfect for me as I had been getting cramps in both hands on the run back, had run out of water and had plans for later in the afternoon.
Unfortunately not many chances for photos when you sweep so what you see in this post is all I got. I took 2 GoPro cameras, both different models and had trouble with both so not much action came out of them either. My older Hero model had trouble reading or writing to the memory card and the battery on my Hero 3 went flat shortly after the start of the ride even though it had been charging for 2 hours the night before  . I did manage to get a little footage out of it though as well as some more on my phone which I have cobbled together for about 3 minutes of footage. Where I could remember names I have tagged people in the clip, to those who’s names I forgot I apologise.
It was a great first hitout after minimal single trail type ridng this last year or so and I was very happy with how I went. Not drops, falls or injuries and minimal trouble getting up and down the tricky bits.
Thanks again to everyone and I can’t wait to do it all again :woohoo:

No broken rips they are just sore so that’s good………….. :woohoo:
Grade 1 tear on the hammy so my 100m sprint days are over……….
NOTE TO SELF: Don’t go riding the weekend before you fly out for overseas holiday the wife hasn’t been impressed…………..
Some Chinees massages will fix the hammy and a week lying on the beach in Thailand should get the rips feeling better and ready for another ride just need to stay on the bike……………………… :pinch:
