Rocket, they are super reliable and the Kwak equivalent of the DR650 in that they have a very large following around the traps.

I am actually toying with selling my DR and going to a KLR in the next 6 months as I like the added tourability and comfort (may even go back to stroms)

If you want to test the DR, drop a message mate and you can ride mine as a comparo to the KLR

As TB said they are a reliable beast. My brother rode one from New Orleans to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, a trip of over 17,000kms and the only thing that went wrong was the exhaust slip on feel off.

    Rocket,

I had one for two years and did 60,000k on it.

I used it to commute, go to rallies and as a dirt road tourer.

It was comfortable, (I rode it back to Sydney from Wannaring in a day) and reliable, but as slow as a wet week in Molong (Which suited me, and probably still would).

For a cheap bike they are a good thing. A mate had an ’04 and did 105,000 on his before giving to a mate.

Check if the Doo Hickey has been done. If not do it. Otherwise, pretty bulletproof.

The valves and seats must be far better than the 250 :silly:

Mate had one, knew when it was time to adjust them, the stinker would not kick start but push it a few meters…….

Borrowed it to do my P’s on. Started fine at his place fine, rode it a few kms to the rta, come time for the test it wouldn’t go.

Wasn’t a consistent thing like every 1000km or the like, just when it felt like it. :p

Apart from that it was an ok thing, guess bit like a water cooled XL.

Anyway this isn’t really on topic.

So are they in need of regular valve adjustment like their smaller sibling?
