What year model Corey, because they do seem to go cheap, don’t seem to hold their value real well, but seem to be fairly bullet proof.
Same motor as the legend kx and has won a few 24hr enduro’s in a row.

    cheers Hatto

they call them an 08 but built in late 07

Payed 5300 for my 07 drz400 and only 2400ks, has had every thing done to it only thing I had to do was the kickstarter, and that is one great handling bike don’t notice the extra weight, and Im not totaly stuffed after a ride.PS you wont get a bite corey wrong bait:laugh:

I used to think that about my XR400 scotty, but the WR is soo much better the weight power and suspension make everything so much easier it makes you look better than you are.But the maintenence and chains and tyres and sprockets and fork seals etc are the price you pay though .I was gunna by a DR but I lent against it in the shop and it was heavier than the ten year old XR.It really depends on what riding you do and how good/big you are .Dont do it corey You will be regretting it on the coffs grade 5
    cheers Ev

Hey ev didn’t a drz400 go past you on that big hill on the bello ride mate.

Yeah but Al you could probably ride an R1 down most trails. The weights not really an issue ntill you drop it (so for me its a big issue)

As all know, I love my DRZ 400,
yes it may be heavyer than the high reving, high maintainence 4 strokes around the same CC, but in all honesty, I do not feel the weight now when I`m in the singles and my bike has more than enough power to handle any thing I can throw at it,
No its not a race bred machine nor is it a enduro weapon, but hey I only want to trail ride on it, not win dakar.!

The maintainence of it is easy, and not a chore after every ride, just throw new tyres and occasionally some sprockets and a chain and Bobs ya uncle.

    Horses for courses I say,
There will be the advocates out there for the lighter and faster bikes, and theres the one that say DRZs are useless, but its what I own and I love it.

Take the plunge corey,,you can nick parts off your old mans when his not looking.

When I rode your klx at Coffs Corey I wanted one bad, it’s a great bike. But after talking with tekniks about it they reckoned they could make a Drz handle like a standard klx so I let them prove it.
It was true the set up on a Drz was everything but it comes at a price and unless you are lucky enough to find one set up to your weight , like your dad did, will you save much money in the exchange ??
I find the lighter bikes better in certain places but my Drz doesn’t seem to wear me out on a big day ride with it’s torquey steady power.

just get the bike YOU find more fun to ride thats what its all about don t think a dr would be more reliable than a klx anyway from what i have seen anyway (excapt fork seals)

I was pretty lucky with my drz the guy I brought it off was ruffly the same weight he spent about 2000 plus on it, I have also ridden coreys klx and after a day on that I was stuffed, it rips your figgin arms out.

    #197509

Thats not saying much when your arms are like spaghetti!!! You have trouble with an old farm quad dont you?

Must say, I’m into this thred. I too am looking for a good all round 400/500 to replace the old 98 RMX, and weight is an issue, as im not a big guy and on the wrong side of 50, a light bike is the go I’m thinking. But it seems there are a lot of considerations??? Just want to finde something the is nice to ride with some go in it, that dosn’t want to kill you on a slipry down hill.
Not trying to hijack this thred Corey8,just interested.
    cheers Teza.

If u are light why not a 250? When ridden right they will work a 450 in the bush!!!
