Big news! Not that I follow it too closely but I didn’t expect it after he’d just joined with the kwaka – though it did seem a bit half baked when he dropped BMW

David Knight signs for Farioli KTMPosted: Thursday, 26th November, 2009 : 9:41 AM – – 1068 Reads –
Former World Enduro champion David Knight will return to KTM after a frustrating year with BMW and Kawasaki.
The former two-time World Enduro Champion and double US GNCC title winner will race for the Italy-based Farioli KTM team in the 2010 World Enduro Championship where he will compete on official KTM factory machinery in the Enduro 3 class.
Returning to the World Enduro Championship at the start of 2009, following two championship winning seasons in the United States, Knight endured a largely frustrating season, despite claiming wins in both the WEC and US GNCC series. Now, with the support of the Farioli KTM team, David will start the new year focused on claiming a third Enduro 3 World Championship.
Although not an official member of the KTM Enduro Factory Team, the Manxman will receive factory backing from the Austrian company, ensuring that he has both the machinery and support needed to claim World Championship success in 2010.
‘I’m extremely happy to be riding for the Farioli KTM team next year. knowing I will receive full factory KTM equipment, and be a part of what is a great team that I know well, means I’m really looking forward to the start of the new season,” Knight said.
“With the Farioli KTM team and support from my personal sponsors I know I can reestablish myself at the top of the Enduro 3 World Championship. 2009 was a difficult year for me but I learned a lot and I’m even more determined than ever to win more WEC titles.
‘I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Kawasaki that has supported me during the second half of ’09, especially everyone at the the Kawasaki Superbike Racing Team. Claiming victory in the Enduro 2 class at the final round of the ’09 World Enduro Championship for Kawasakai is something that I am extremely proud of. I’d like to wish Kawasaki every success in 2010. During the coming weeks and months I’m going to be training hard during the winter both in the UK and in the States. I can’t wait for the start of the ’10 WEC series.”
November 26, 2009 at 10:57 am #162862:laugh: i posted a similar story a while back with quotes from a bmw owner spewing at knighter because he switched camps and basically based his bmw purchase on knighters plans  ,wonder if they’ll be some kawasaki owners ripping into him now
November 26, 2009 at 11:06 am #162866I remember that it was a cracker! With any luck he pushes to get the 350excf set up then they’d have to start selling them to the public! Or does that rule not apply to the WEC???
November 26, 2009 at 11:30 am #162868He needs to be sponsored by Nike or Reebok as he jumps from team to team so much, what ever happened to loyalty. Kawasaki picked him up when he spilt with BMW then cheers fellows I am off

November 26, 2009 at 11:36 am #162869It wasn’t the kwaka factory team it was their superbike team so I’m guessing it was only support and never intended to be a long term arrangement. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been easy leaving BMW mid season so he probably just took whatever could let him see the season out.
November 26, 2009 at 11:39 am #162870mayde he just likes riding ktms but needed a change to realise it.plenty of other brands out there but why not try the lot there all at the right price for him
November 26, 2009 at 11:43 am #162871Kawaski dont have an off road team in the states, so it was run with through the superbike team workshop cause that’s all they had. I was told a week ago there was a rumour he was going back to Kato but thought no way. Also was told the Kawasaki effort in the states was without ANY budget restrictions as getting Knight and winning everything entered was the goal

AnonymousI like the way he’s not conventional, he just beats the bike into doing what he wants. the total opposite to Shane Watts who looks really smooth and like he’s sweet talking his bike to ride float harder over the rocky stuff!

Am very dispaointed with his chnage so quickly, woulda been good to see the Big K get some developement work done on their off-roaders.
BTW Moto PDS is on it’s last legs, the writing is on the upramp, KTM must actually want to win something outside it’s comfort zone again, or maybe FMX is the next big growth market?.

AnonymousI see a few KTM’s riding FMX and noticed recent that in the hands of Mr Anderson, Tye Simmonds, Mitch Austin and the other Coastal KTM guy (I forget his name) they seem to go alright at the Super X.
KTM say they are happy with and will keep the PDS for enduro, I think they will bring it out on the SX’s and then come up with some bull crap and follow to a linkage with the EXC’s.
From my points of view that just means a few more bearings I will have to replace.
