Rider X recently made a purchase of a Knobby Knife, I had heard of them before but had never seen one, so he bought it to the shed last night so we could have a play with it.

For those that haven’t heard of one, they are used to” sharpen up” and give new life to your tyres.

Here it is in the flesh, it looks for all money like a big soldering iron.

The test tyre was the one on the back of my son’s YZ250F, this tyre has 32 hrs of mud riding on it. (Hasn’t stopped raining since we bought the bike actually).

As you can see it was starting to round off a bit.

Anyhow, we got into it, without reading the instructions of coarse!!

A couple of our first knobs were a bit suss.

We soon got the hang of it and finished of the tyre in no time at all. The more we did the better we got.

Even Moose had a go and reckons it is a good thing.

It certainly gave all the knobs a nice sharp edge, and would make a nice addition to any ones shed tool inventory. I do believe that they sell them for about $120.00.

Rider X got it from this website , it appears to be a NZ mob.

I read about these a while ago. They seem like a good thing. I made my own for around $35 and it works good enough for the amount of time I use it.

Are you talking about a thin cutting disc on an angle grinder?

That looks like a killer shed … right down to the postie bike by the look of it!

God, I so can’t wait to get out of Sydney … real people, real sheds.

I have seen “Bobby’s Knobby Knife” in action, works a treat and smells like a burnout :)

Yeah, we have a bit of fun in my shed from time to time Razzle. Lots of stuff to play with in there plus a beer fridge!
