Quote:Thanks Fellas…Well I had her out on the trails this weekend.. Decided to take my little girl to the Owl farm and dragged my bike along.. Both knee and bike performed awesome.. I had her blasting down some tight singles and it took awhile to get some confidence but man o man she performed well and helped with confidence as she just stuck like glue and went right where I pointed her.. The heavier spring TB put on before the corner made a difference I reckon.. I had her jumping as well got some huge air(weel huge for me
) and not one bottoming out..
Trouble starting it cold but hopefully fixed this week
15/44 is to tall for the trails I now believe.. I have a 47 that Gaz took off after purchasing his DR so I’ll throw it on for the coffs trip and see how it goes…
Yeah Boony pain in arse them headlight assemblies..
The lower gearing will suit Coffs better mate. Apart from the beach and a short bitumen stretch you will not spend much time above 80kph so if it is not too much trouble switch it out. I run 13/50 on my little 250F.

November 14, 2010 at 9:37 am #190723I found the 15/44 gearing I used for the Cameron ride not that good in the tight stuff and have gone 14/48 which worked good last time I rode with STM.
Your right about that rear shock too krusty , my 6.0 spring changed my Drz heaps and now I’ve adjusted the rebound to suit it’s the best it’s ever been. I never thought I would feel happy jumping a Drz but now I’m always on the lookout for something to launch off!!November 14, 2010 at 9:41 am #190727Nick it would be interesting trying 15/48 given that going from 15/44 to 14/48 is soooooooooooooo big a change.
Just a thought

November 14, 2010 at 9:55 am #190728I`m with TB 15/48 is about a 4 tooth down from standard and she`ll scream her head off during transport sections.,,,I run 14/50, i have tried a couple of variations and find this the best for bush riding, and it pokes along nicely on transport sections..But thats for me.Standard 14/47 felt just a tad to high for where I ride, the bike now scoots along nicely, and is easy to control during the power on moments.

I’ll give it a try for sure TB. I only ordered the 14/48 as that’s what I ran before, it would be interesting to see the difference.
After Coffs ride though, I need a familier bike for that one !!

December 30, 2010 at 10:04 pm #193665how hard is it to bolt that long range tank on Krusty, how do you get the bolts to line up and take, Mine standard one is a pain in the arse to get the bolts in with the force rad guards, put it back on yesterday following a intense clean up.

BoonyIt can be a little tricky but not too bad… the gap you see on the sides makes it accessible to the bolt holes.. I use a T-Bar and feed it in.. I’ll show you up close at Nabiac. I need to get Rad-Guards and not sure which to get.. Nick has B&B and he needs to remove his to install tank.. Boulder has some brand called flatlands? and he don’t need to remove them to install his large tank.. Not sure what Jeffro has and any difficulties he may have..
December 30, 2010 at 10:43 pm #193672I have to loosen my guards off to even get the tank brackets to sit in the right place, would be a pain if I drowned the bike,.
December 31, 2010 at 12:54 am #193673I leave the bolts out of mine, I have the Force radiator guards and it is hard enough with the standard tank. It is held at the back with the rubber strap the same as the normal tank then with the seat in place and my fat arse on top of it, it has not moved on me that I have noticed.
January 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #193666Nice mods Krusty, I can see one problem but. Your new vented front guard will allow mud thru the vents and fill your radiators with mud
I know this because I tried one like it myself, remember I taped it up when I fitted the guard on the Cameron trip
(and before you say we fitted one to the project DR650, its air cooled no radiators to clog with mud
)

January 28, 2011 at 7:54 am #184499I managed to get the sticker kit done recently and just picked the plastics up today.. After some cutting on the rear with an angle grinder all is well..
 I also fitted a new gripper seat cover..
Next up on the list is to do the head and valves and maybe rings not sure yet..
Here is the latest incarnation of the Krusty DRZ400E…
January 28, 2011 at 9:16 am #195364Matee,,,those after market mirrors look smick,,Bar that it still looks the same as it did at the coffs ride….
