I don’t need beer (can’t drink it) so Michael, if perchance I have been of any assistance at all, feel free to have a few on my behalf, and I am sure Boony & TB feel the same…..

My starter went the other week and after pulling the button apart I discovered that it had simply come off the wiring harness behind the head light.

When the starter doesn’t work are you able to kick it over? Just wondering because if you can I doubt the kill switch is causing the drama. Check the terminal on the starter is clean and has a good connection also. You could bypass the relay and run power directly to the starter to see whether the problem is the starter or the wiring/relay.

Here’s the wiring diagram for my bike if that helps. WRT the starter nothing should have changed I’d think.

    Thanks Ausblue.
I just went out and hit the starter then and the thing fired straight up. I stopped the engine, pressed the button again and………….nothing.

Got it sorted. Dicky kill switch. Still dicky, as it appears it is worn out.The spring inside it that holds the button out, cant push the button out far enough to disengage the switch,so if you actually pull the button out the slightest bit it starts every time. The actual switch block the spring is in doesn’t look all that serviceable.I would suggest that a new switch block would be required.
But if you can get used to it, it would make a reasonable anti theft devise.

I forgot to mention how much fun I had cutting around town on it,with its road tyres and all. :woohoo: It would be a more than capable bike in the bush too. :woohoo:

I went for a run along Moose’s road which is in an ordinary state at the moment. That is how I gauged its of road abilities.

Just read the post – but you have it sorted. I have seen that happen a couple of times before where the kill switch has been faulty and that has been on much later models.

OH dirt road, road tyres and you said “could be more then capable in the bush”

My old bother in law had a KTM 400 that I rode a couple of times at Orange plenty of nice usable power was a 2002 model or around there I think

All this motard talk is making me wonder about getting some for the Fiddy :)
