November 20, 2011 at 9:47 am #212101Your right, Admin
I did get a little carried away last night.
But I’m sure you can understand my frustration having forked out more than $15000 for something that cuts out on a 15 min ride. :angry:On the flip side she seems to be steering much more predictably having backed off the comp, rebound and even the preload of the forks.
Cheers
MurphP.S. thanks for all the input and ideas concerning the steering problem, fella’s.
November 20, 2011 at 8:41 pm #212102Gee wizz Murph!
With all that colourful venting it had to get moved into the swearing section.
I know your pain. Many that have brought a new/sh bike have wished they kept their old one.
I don’t hear of many owners going through repeat issues with efi so bring it back to the dealer and fire up.
Your going to have to be pretty careful with fuel, especially with your jerry cans and drums. It goes with the technology nowdays. Did I mention I ride a simple 2 stroke? No just kidding, it will be ok.
Let the shop have a crack and hopefully it will be a one off mate.
Worse case senario you could fit up a FCR carbie… no just jokingNovember 20, 2011 at 9:23 pm #212112Took the bike into KTM Newcastle and they hooked it up to the diagnostic computer.
No fault was detected.
Evidentely the fuel filters are far too fine and they are waiting for new coarser ones to come into the country.
This may of had something to do with the damn thing shutting down three times. Nobody knows.
Looking forward to getting out in the mud tomorrow arvo with the kid to see how it goes
Cheers
MurphNovember 20, 2011 at 9:35 pm #211950Murph,
I’m interested to hear how it goes, especially the fuel injection part
Better that you find and solve any problems than me
Hope all goes well
Adam.
November 20, 2011 at 9:41 pm #212114Hey Murph,
I had steering issues with my 2008 KTM 450 as in dicated in a previous thread. The biggest problem that i had was that i rode a mates 2010 Husaberg. Shit they turn well!. So i went down and spoke to the guys at Tekniks and after spending a bit of coin I went to a progressive rate rear spring and revalved the front fork with a new piston and shim kit. I run my forks about 8mm through the triple clamps and was advised to run an air chamber height of 145mm and let the shims do the work in the fork. I was also advised to run the rider sag at 113-118mm using the progressive rate rear spring. My first ride with this set up will be at Coffs on the weekend so i will let you know how it goes.
I am also using Pirelli Scorpion MX Extra’s Front and Rear.
Clickers are back to Std but I will have a play up there.PS; Dont ride a Berg eh! You will be really Pissed then!
Cheers,
LeftyNovember 20, 2011 at 11:02 pm #212115hay lefty with that progressive spring keep an eye on the sag settings mine saged a fair bit over the first couple of rides rode smooth but did not turn they told me 120mm so set it at that .it steered like shit and got worse as it sacked out .have it at 110 sag now turns good is brllant in the sand best thing i ever done was get that spring and it has settled in and stopped sagging
