am looking for a ktm 50 for my eldest boy hes to tall for a mini adventure hes just turned 8( But hes like me not very tall)and as we have got a KDX 50 (basically a suzuki JR50) want to step up a bit for a bike that will last him in size for a couple of years. Now my question is with the junior and seniors ktm 50s whats the difference if the senior is just taller can you lower it and by how much as i have seen a pro senior in my price range but its to tall for him at the moment but if icould lower it enough and let him grow into it id buy it. What sort of seat heights can you get . the seat height of a DRZ 70 is 560mm which he is comfortable with( but ithink in less than 12 months he will be to big for it)the ktm prosenior is 650mm and it says the junior is adjustablefrom 585 to 610mm . id like him to stay on the 2 strokes at the moment as well because they are obviously a lot lighter so any help or information would be much appreciated.

The is a big difference between the Mini Adventure and the Pro Senior. If you aren’t planning on him racing, I would go the Mini Adventure as they are air cooled and can be ridden all day. Where as the Pro Senior is a much more highly strung water cooled weapon. The Pro should only be ridden for short periods as they are designed to do a race and then go back to the pits to cool down. Continual riding tends to get them too hot and the stator will burn out. $160 thank you. I am talking from experience, as we have had two pro seniors and it happened to both.(Still have one here in the shed).
The Pro senior is height adjustable at the top of the rear shock but you will only get it about 1 inch lower in the rear and and inch lower in the front by dropping the forks in the triple clamps.
Another bike to look at is the KTM Senior adventure, it is also air cooled but a bit taller than the mini adventure, it has the same engine as the MA but the height of the Pro senior.
You can get some extra sting out of the MA and SA by fitting a pipe of a Pro Senior to them, they will go like a shot dog then!!!

just noticed that the mini adventure is about 5 centimeters taller than the kdx 50 mightbe the way to go being 18 kg lighter than the DRZ 70

the mini adventure was to small as i want a couple of years out of the bike , ive ended up getting on to an 08 50 SX junior picked it up in sydney ( wasnt that a wonderful drive in peak hour holiday traffic) the young fella couldnt keep his eyes off it in the back of the ute all the way home just got get him some more riding gear now the 2 boys have a bike each, but while that happens it gives me some time for a good check over the bike, its had a new piston kit put through it( cant bloody help myself its in a million bits across my shed at the moment )so far its only rear wheel bearings, a swingarm bush kit and a set of front brake pads every thing else seems fine.
