Hi Guys been a while! Been Flat out workin no time for the family let alone the bike or the mates! Anyway the old 07 WR250 is due for the dreeded top end rebuild! gonna get it done but dont want to do it again so am having a look at a ktm 2000 model 380 2T its a ONEINdustries model with the oversize conventional forks. It is a handfull although a lot of fun but I am 40 early next month. And as much as like to think I am young enough to ride it every second sunday I`m not!! So if any one knows how or if it can be detuned to similar to a 300 2T it would be handy because its a good price in exellent condition. :)

Very Nice Mick, These Kato’s make an excellent trail bike I have a 380 and a 300 in the shed (99 models) To make it easier to ride there is a few things you can do.You can get a different throttle cam which alters the way the power comes on,also a Decompression head makes life a lot easier when it comes to starting the beast. You could also alter your jetting by richening it up,this will have the effect of making it doughier although your fuel range may suffer. Maybe a bigger base gasket to lower the compression.Plenty of options out there

    best of luck mate.

According to the experts this was the single worst handling dirtbike of the past decade, almost bought one once and after riding it a few years back I’m glad I didn’t cause I totally agree with those “experts”. All in all typical pre 2008 KTM, excellent engine in search of a chassis.

Yeh dont know Bruce I submitted a reply but it didnt show up

    Basicly I said I have 2 of em a 300 and a 380 (99 Models)

to alter the power you can do a few things

different throttle cams,Decomp Head thicker base gasket, alter jetting to richen it up.

The 380 makes an awsome trail bike, but you do have to watch the rear suspension when pushing it hard,The engine are pretty wild :woohoo: One of my best mates was recently killed on one and he could really ride, they certainly deserve respect.

I had a go over some pretty rough ground up hill and down and it seemed pretty good even uder heavy breaking and it did’nt bottom over erosion mounds not big air but I’m no Robbie Maddison. Maybe He has had the forks and shock done. The steering is not as sharp as my mates 06 ktm 250F but not buy much!
