THAT IS THE QUESTION
any views or opinions even comments on reliability and longevity of either
as this decision is expensive ,experienced advice would be nice
530 against 570 what a decision :woohoo:March 23, 2012 at 1:01 am #218693I went gasgas before either. Ktm and Berg are the same thing besides name and plastics. So basically Its your call on which colour you prefer.
March 23, 2012 at 8:38 am #218698I thought KTM and Berg were very different, the Berg has a motor on a slant and I think it handles very well from what I have read.
Either would be good to have.but I would be looking at the new injected Yamaha WR450.

March 23, 2012 at 9:40 am #218699Don’t forget the Berg has no kickstarter.
Not that it should be an issue, but it could be.
Thats one of the reasons I didn’t go blue and yellow.
Cheers
MurphMarch 23, 2012 at 11:11 am #218694The Bergs are a great bike, but as Murph said,no kickstarter and that is a big negative for me.You may never need it but it is always good for backup.
The other is that KTM have a much bigger dealer network.
KTM is a very much proven product.
Talk with LC4skin,he has a Berg and will be able to help you out with some info.
Cheers Marty
March 23, 2012 at 12:50 pm #218702I have a 2010 450 Berg, the engine is the same as a KTM except its laying over and only has one oil for gear box and engine and no kickstarter.
I have a little battery charger and keep the battery charged all the time.
All suspension, wheels, brakes, sprockets, handle bars, controls and some of the plastics are the same. When I order parts I usually just order KTM parts to stop confusion between Husaberg and Husqvarna.
Love the bike but I reckon I would love a KTM too.
If you are buying a new KTM 500 there will be some more differences, especially with the engine.
March 23, 2012 at 8:12 pm #218707just get a ktm 350 and hit the singles yeehaa(think there sold out but) sorry not much help on your question reckon 500 sounds better than 570 being an old school number.reckon the only way to make a desision is to ride them this can be impossible to organise sometimes i spose
March 23, 2012 at 10:27 pm #218695I just brought the 570 berg and have only ridden it for a quick 1hr ride, will be on it again on monday so can give you more afterwards
You wont go wrong with either
Berg is cheaper, good deals at the moment
Berg feels wider between your legs but lighter in the steering
Berg has the newer close chamber forks
I was also worried about no kick starter but do your reserch on the EFI systems they both use, if the battery is dead, less than 8 volts it wont start even with a kick starter or clutching
If worried do a deal on changing the standard battery for a lithium ion, heaps better and 1.5kg lighter
I have been a berg rider for several years and actually was set on changing but in the end it came down to me getting a deal with the berg setup as i wanted for less than i could buy the bare KTMOK, first impression of the berg off rode,
Fark this thing goes!! goes much harder then the demo bike, Sutto’s secret pre delivery i’m guessing
brakes very powerful, gear shifting smooth and postive, forks harst initially(backed off 5 clicks), sweet back end (fitted with progressive spring), steering light and goes where it should
Bike did feel a bit top heavy and wide between the legs, but i started to get use to it the more on rode
so far impressed
more laterp.s
Fark this thing goes!!March 24, 2012 at 12:04 am #218727I have a 2012 Husaberg 450. Seems like a good bike. The big advantage is its not orange. We all know orange bike are a bit gay.
As for the kick starter, or lack of one, the kick-starter on my CRF450X never got used once in 3 years of riding. Hoping the Berg is the same.
There are more differences than the engine between Bergs and KTM. Bergs have air filter access second to none, 5 second filter change. They have the quick release seat as well. So no tools filter access.
Plastic rear sub frame, better forks, there not orange.
I dont reckon the Berg goes as hard as my old CRF450 though.March 24, 2012 at 9:55 am #218734The Bergs fuel injected and won’t have the punch off the mark
But it should be up there when the revs rise
My 500 felt dohey at first but I’m happy with it now. Mapping switch fitted and 2500kms on it, seems to have loosened up and is going great.
Still not overly impressed with the suspension?? More tinkering I guess???
Have heavier springs front and back. If anyone has the same set up on a 500 I would like to know what settings they are running???
Cheers

Fark this thing goes!!March 26, 2012 at 3:53 pm #218697berg 570 1st ride, power delivery very nice, very responsive and plently of snap especially in the wild map mode, I currently prefer the mild setting as traction is better
Bike tips into corners nicely, rear suspension is good, not quite sure with the front yet but I lost a lot of confidence with the problematic previous bike, a damper would help, so time will tell
The bike felt lighter and more flickable the more I rode it even though me fitness is up the sh*t
I did the 1st oil change at 3hrs as recommended, oil screen had a lot of assemble crap on it, change was done straight after this ride and I was surprised how cool the oil was, last bike the oil temp would have given you 3rd degree burns,
so far the bike is a good thing -
