I believe that in the overall picture of motorcycle racing if you include major domestic titles post 1970 you would have to agree that KTM is very much a “johnny come lately” and I would believe that on ratio of bikes sold to titles won it would be Ducati and the New Zealand Vee twin the Britten,then next category overall winningnest post 1970 I think you would find it would be a toss betwixt the tuning forks and the red wings of Thor, don’t thinks so well think GPs’ think 125s,250s,500s, modern Gp superbikes, think Motorcross of the 70s, eighties and ninties to now, think ISDE since Ibiza alone, think Trials, think AMA superbikes. Admittedly KTM is relatively only done well recently and yes well as can be, but it would also be interesting to determine their competetion budget on the same ratio of bikes sold to money thrown at the top enduro riders to persuade them to cross over, and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Knighter & Taddy could win on almost anything half decent.
But one must remain object, and bright shiny things do attract ……..
