I’d like to share how i upgraded the standard 3ah batt in my 300 to a 6ah batt . The reason i did this was the colder weather was making life difficult for the standard battery ,problem being sluggish starter motor and not engaging properly. I used the standard battery box and rubber strap . All i did was cut 3 metal brackets from some gal strapping ,lowering the battery 40mm into the airbox . Access to air filter hasn’t been affected. The Battery is a YTX7L-BS , $100 from supercheap .IMG_3291.jpg

Will link this post to my friend Kelpie. He took about a minute of strait cranking to fire his 300 at the last pony x. From what i have seen in the past those 300’s usually dont take much to start though.

here is what i used the last time i replaced a Batt. copied from another tech thread here about 2 months ago. i don’t know what the cold cranking amps is, but has not missed a beat in the 8 months or so i’ve had it.

    :> “the last Batt. i put in my 640 was a SLA= sealed lead acid , Dia Mec, has Dm12 v- 7.2 Ah. 20hp
written on it, i don’t know what the 20hp means. but it’s 12 volt 7.2 amp hour.

$35 from the local Jaycar stockist, i just measured up the old Batt. and got the closest one in size, only ended up a few mm smaller over all.

has not missed a beat in last 6 months or so. has not needed to be charged via an external charger and the bike has sat for up to 3-4 weeks at a time without being started.”

    drewpy’s $0.002 worth ;)
