Thanks for the info Morgo. As for having it done in Newcastle my optometrist advised me not to have it done there. He has heard of too many people that it has gone wrong for. One of the girls that I work with had hers done there and her eyes weren’t initially that bad. They stuffed up and now she can’t even get glasses strong enough to correct her vision. She needs these special (read expensive) contact lenses. She is very nervous about me having it done but I have now talked to so many people about it and everyone except for her has had a positive experience. She now regrets not doing any research about where to get it done.

So on Wednesday we head down to Sydney to get it done. At the moment I feel like a small child who is getting excited about Xmas and I haven’t felt like that for ages. It’s really nice. I am so excited and I just need to get through today and tomorrow at work and I just can’t wait.

The worst thing is that my glasses actually hide the wrinkles under my eyes and the bags, so it might not be a pretty outcome for me when I don’t have to wear them anymore. Maybe I will just wear sunnies everywhere to hide them.

Good luck for Wednesday Kylie :)

I am thinking about getting it done too. I keep getting my lunch money stolen and would love to teach those 2 girls a lesson.

    kylie,
glad to see your going to sydney also, didnt want to mention it before in case it put you off, but we too were advised against using anyone in newcastle, one in particular. barb was treated by dr con moshegov in sydney.
if dans going with you , dan try to watch it if they let you, totally facinating and very cool to watch.
we stayed in sydney overnite for 2 reasons.1. barb was put to bed within 20 mins of leaving the surgery. painkillers, sleep tablet and all good.
    2. we had to be back next morning to check that the flap of skin hadnt moved. we met some of the other patients from prevois days surgery and all were doing fine.

    best of luck.

    Thanks Guys!

Boony you know what went through my mind when I read your post?

Dr Nick Riviera – from the Simpsons

I appreciate the gesture but I think the surgeon will be fine.

Morgo – did your wife have the option not to have the painkillers and the sleeping tablet?

I’ve got things planned for Wed arvo and I don’t want to waste the time by going to bed.

If it’s just valium I can handle that because I can take two of those and not be sleepy.

basically she had to keep her eyes closed for 3 hours after surgery.
valium was given before surgery to relax you, only small dose.
then was told to take the other tablets once back at hotel.even if she didnt sleep she had to rest and keep eyes closed.
Things may be different for you .

 You know what I’m like TB. I know best as I am a fully qualified Doctor myself whose speciality is diagnosing (off the internet  ) and Xray analysis

    We’ll see.

Morgo – I hope it is different for me because I can never sleep during the day, even after valium and the thought of keeping my eyes closed for like 3 hours is already killing me. :S

Thanks for letting me know though. At least it won’t come as a shock and I won’t arc up at the Doctor if he tells me that’s what I need to do (although I expect I will question him as to whether it is absolutely necessary).

    2 more sleeps! :woohoo:

Of course. It’s also where I earned my degree called ‘Learn how to be a know it all wife and drive her husband crazy’. That one was a bachelor course funnily enough.
