Yeah Wikd, what happened? I like long stories.
Wait I know you are you the bionic man, having hardware added and removed.
I cant afford to be the bionic man
First one; my ankle got kind of stuck between a rock and a trials bike causing a very clean break right at the inside ‘ball joint’.
This required two wood like screws to repair and they were later removed.Second; too much internal lubrication caused me to slip off an elevated ground floor balcony and land on my elbow and back and luckily the elbow broke and not my back.
Unlickily it required two long pins and a piece of wire in a figure 8 shape (called a tension band) to mend. This caused considerable pain for 12 months as the tension band did it’s thing and as x-rays showed, the sharp points of the pins were poking out of the bone into my soft tissue/muscle.
This hardware was also removed after 12 months and I am once again hardware free. You did ask.
I would rather have the eye surgery than either of those operations if there was a choice, oh the pain.
When I woke up after the ankel op, I went straight into shock from the pain and I commented to the nurse that it felt like they hammered in two nails, she told the surgeon who was amused (God bless him) and told her to give me some pain killers in 30 minutes if I was stable.I got the pain killers OK

AnonymousThanks for all the well wishes everyone.
Mick the opthamologist that I am seeing is Dr Binetter. His Newcastle offices are at Hunter Street Newcastle.
The guy that you might be referring to might work out of Hunter Laser Vision. They were the ones that I was advised against because they had so many problems with things going wrong. I feel sorry for him though because I was just lucky that two people warned me off that one.
Austblue – yes that concerned me too that I was going to ride into that ‘swimming pool’ sized pool of water. I am hoping that this won’t be an issue after tomorrow.

AnonymousWell it’s been done and although it wasn’t a painful experience at all I am glad that I took the 2 valium that they gave me before hand. Whatever strength it was it must have been the quickest acting valium in all time. Within 3 minutes of taking it I felt off my chops and could hardly walk.
For the first say 2 hours after the surgery I could hardly open my eyes because of the gritty feeling. However after that I have been able to keep them open most of the time.
My vision is still a little blurry but I can see everything. They say that your vision will take a couple of days to get to where it needs to be. I was a bit disappointed that TB and DanD wouldn’t get in the car with me when we were talking about how to get dinner. We got home delivery.
I have to go back to the surgeon at 6:45am tomorrow morning. He will then check to make sure that it is going OK. A couple of times I have pulled around my eyes because they do feel a bit horrible which caused a world of pain in my eyes which has given me reason not to do that again.
So far so good.
