August 26, 2011 at 9:49 pm #207690Just spoke to TB and he’s been mixing it up with the likes of Steve Crombie and the better known ADV rider Krusty
Poor bugger is stuck for the night as they have closed the road to stop any head ons.
I was asked to call TBs better half to let her know and Salina told me the other old bull has no camping gear so it looks like TB and Krusty are getting cosy tonight !!!!!

August 27, 2011 at 1:25 pm #207696TB just rang and they are on their way back now.
Deejay has now taken the Kings Fully loaded crown for going on an adventure ride with only a sleeping bag and a can of soup!!
Neither TB nor Krusty invited him into their tent and just rolled him up in a small tarp for the night
Krusty has spent a bit of time on the ground , TB has had problems starting the Tenere this morning and Deejay ran out of fuel but I’ll let them tell those stories !!!
August 27, 2011 at 6:13 pm #207683:laugh: Yeah,,,
TB rang me too as I was fuelling the 690 for the run to Wallaroo SF this morning.
Ripped into me for implying he was underpreparedTB is always prepared to the max ,,,, I know that.
Apparently it was young DeeJay with his new FULLY LOADED SETUP :woohoo: Mud & All
This story will be a cracker when it unfolds tonite ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :silly:
August 27, 2011 at 8:35 pm #207684What a weekend… Met up with TB Saturday morning to pick up my new bling wheels.. He said he was going to do a ride out to an ADV rally and suggested I come along.. The plan was to prepare to camp and we will see how we go.. While I was leaving TB’s to head back home and prep the bike and gear up DJ-Hardcore shows up to get a lesson in tire changing from TB.. I said hello and goodbye.. During the lesson TB must have talked DJ-Hardcore into tagging along.. It was quite a site to see old DJ-Hardcore show up on his new KTM 400 with a sleeping bag and nothing else strapped to the back fender..
Off we went bitumen to Mittagong and after a quick fuel and bite to eat we headed towards Wombeyan Caves.. Hit the dirt and a nice clean run to a property where the rally was being held.. It was $20 dollars if we wanted to mingle and stay.. After some humming and hawing it was decided to stay as it was getting near dark and the road in was filled with lots of riders coming in so going out could have been dangerous, plus the property bloke insisted no-one go back out so road was closed in the out direction..
We decided on a little flat spot along the ridge line looking down on the rally… We claimed it as Old Bulls Camp… It turns out this was a good choice as a roll start downhill was required in the am for the Tenere.. After a quick camp setup some mingling in the crowd was done.. DJ-Hardcore and TB was unhappy that there were no cans to be had.. It was going to be a sober night.. I made a fire and we all ate and joked and laughed about various things… I enjoyed the night and it was great company… I’ll let DJ-Hardcore describe his camp setup… hahahaha…
Up early and we were gone by 6:45am.. We blasted back the same way we came.. It was a nice cruisy run and all was well until I washed out the front wheel in a rut.. I had the gas on so the bike just slid around doing a 180.. No damage to me other than embarrassment.. One of the straps on the andy bags was ripped right off though and 2 new holes on the 2 underside corners..
Oh well live and learn..
The ride got interesting once we hit the bitumen again as DJ-HArdcore ran out of fuel and I had to refuel him from the super tanker… After another 30k’s we had to do a repeat as his Euro machine sucks petrol like mad… Once we got to a petrol station all was well and a nice ride home was had…
It was an interesting ride for me as it was the first with the new setup of racks and Andy bags.. It is so different from the old setup which had all the weight on the top rear.. The bike was much steadier and much more balanced.. The only thing I have to remember is when riding with this setup I have to ride it like an adventure bike and not a trail bike as I had a few oh F&%^k moments.. Any sliding from the rear and the weight makes her want to keep on going..
I clocked up 436k… TB got some good video and photos so plenty of laughs to come…
Cheers…
August 27, 2011 at 8:59 pm #207685More,,,
We want to hear MORE :laugh:Would be good to hear Dejay`s account of the trip actually

August 27, 2011 at 11:38 pm #207715Well if its what the crowd wants, i guess i better not dissapoing.
Let me just say, this trip was totally unplanned and the stay over not really expected but oh well what the hey.Well it all started like the Krustinator said at casa de TB, learning the fine art of fitting a tyre, lol and not pinching the tube  .Well the tube was pinched, and a qucik trip to Sutto’s we were back on track fitting the new pirelle tyre (no intentions of so much tar but oh well). And the words ride to the caves and are you keen were said.
I was already in the you know what with the missus so oh well must buy some snorkel extentions. Raced home to fit the tyre and my adventure gear  and headed out to the oaks.
With the new rubber on i slowed up krusty abit and putted along on the tar, untill TB found some tracks beside the road.
Well i had alot of fun on the tighter stuff, as you would expect. But TB got off the might Tenere and walked over to me, i was a little lost untill he ushered me off and we switched(i reacon he might deny that). Well again i fell in love with the Tenere as i went for a run earlier in the week and was hooked then. A quick pit stop for fuel and lunch then a little more tar.
After loosing sight of TB and cruising with Krusty we finally saw some glourious dirt. The road on the way to caves was pretty skatie(if thats a word), and as this was not my first time on the road but the first time on a bike so i was taking it easy round the blind corners but having fun none the less (cause it was dirt). Without incident but a few deap breath moments, we pulled up on a fire trail. And i was pumped to hit it. It was a fast open, 4 and 5th in sections, sweeping fire trail of glory. We turned left onto some more fire trail and it was much the same untill a few bigger hills which fire out some sweet tunes from the akro(who needs an ipod). It slowed up a few times with some great hair pins and a few wood ducks as TB says.
Well we arrived to a valley full of bikes, people, tents, fires, but only 3 old bull’s. After a quick chat and the tought of head on’s in the dark, we found camp Old bull half way up a hill, and we set up.
Well it was a massive job unpacking, as the ocky starp was on tight but after that i was done. Thats it, i did not expect to stay overnight but these things happen. I donated tarp from Krust and the ground sheet from TBs tent and i had my set up done. We went down to socialise and check out some rides. Plenty of Kato’s, A BMW or 5, old and new, a couple of trailer towing bikes and a road bike with road tyres. .
It was a good night, given it was unplanned and we were sobber. Plenty of laughs, two bloody loud bombs set off (fricken hill billys), a couple of trips up the hill for some phone range and a few hours sleep.
We woke up, packed up, geared up and after abit to get the mighty Tenere cranking, we were off.
The next sections of the fire trails we rode in on, was awsome. We rode at a cracking pace (well i thought so any way), flicked over to reserve’s as we hit the road to the caves, had plenty of fun trying to keep a good pace but siding with caution. TB waved me by so when i ran out fuel it would save time not doubling back.
The thirsty Kato made it most of the way out, and to the place where TB later informed us was used as the old bull parking area for a birthday ride. I pulled up and waited………..And waited…….And TB showed…… And it turned out Krusty had a woops. And when he turned up he yelled out “Krusty had a party with the ground” (or something like that my american is a little rusty). .
With the help of the Super tanker, we refueled with a V can, and head off. Within 2-3 Minutes i was back on reserves and 5 more i was pulled up again. A desperate attempt to get all of the fuel out of the tank which lasted about 5 more minutes and we stop 7 k’s short of mittagong. Abit more abuse from TB, a laugh or 2 with Krusty and we halled arse back into town.
A sight for sore eye’s we came across a servo and blew past it?????????
TB wanted to stop near the bakery so we kept going. And we made it. Some fuel, a drink, a pie, and a chat with TB’s man crush Steve crombie, we got going.
A few more Singles and a few wack to TB’s leftside peg, we crusied back to Sydney and we went our ways at the Oaks.
I want to say a massive thanks to TB and Krusty for your help and tarps, I had a blast, would do it again tomorrow.
Adventure riding is awsome i cant wait to buy a more appropriate bike to do it on. And its on the cards, TB and me have a had a few chats about it.
Thanks guys
Dejay Kwacka(hardcore)  😆 😆August 27, 2011 at 11:57 pm #207716So Saturday afternoon is free, Sal is off doing things so I said I will duck down and have a look at the ADV TTT Rally. Will be home on dark and we will go to the pictures
bike was basically still packed from my last ride and one should never go unprepared when ADV riding cause one never knows what will happen.
First things first, I had built a set of wheels for Krusty and needed his originals to measure the hub off sets (I didn’t pull them apart) so he was calling around so I could measure the originals.
While Krusty was here I mentioned I was going and he said was in, he left in a hurry to go home and get ready. Dee Jay hardcore bought his rear wheel up so I could teach him how to change a tyre. We ended up with a pinched tube, user the rim lock  from the rim lock because it had creased and we hadn’t had a lever under the rim lock. Anyway once a new ultra heavy duty was installed replacing the heavy duty I mentioned ro Dee Jay and he was in like Flynn  We decided Krusty’s super tanker would cover Dee Jays rule range issues and I suggested he throw some camping gear if he could just in case something happens.
So I meet Krusty and we rode to The Oaks and meet Dee Jay. From there to Mittagong for fuel and a pie
It was getting late and looked it could actually rain
I thought I best check over the ADV setups we had on this ride
Mine trusted and tested setup
Krusty’s Andy setup
And Dee Jay’s setup which is just a sleeping bag
and it’s not in a bag itself
Off we went down through the hole in the wall
We rode some of the tracks used on the Caves to Caves ride a few years ago. Once we took the turn off to the rally it was onto a sweet fire trail that went up hill and down dale, shit hot riding actually. And then we arrived at the Rally, first of the days problems. A) we couldn’t just look around and leave without paying
we couldn’t just leave because of the incoming bikes and the fear of a head-on  the track wasnt that bad but we were stuck. We paid our twenty bucks and were told of a site on the hill side if we could get up there  So I fired up the Tenere and took off up this grassy hill, littered with stumps and logs and holes, a little damp and 100 plus people watching  Shit it in!!
A guy was looking over my bike and complementing on how it was setup which was nice, but nicer when I found out it was Steve Crombie !! Steve’s write up on the Tenere and his adventure on one to Mendeniee was one of the reasons I bought one.
So we setup our hillside OBT came site, view from our camp
I thought I had better prepare a fire
Funny thing about the above picture is the KTM owner said that it wouldnt work, because as he said ” shit doesn’t burn it just smolders” like a true KTM owner :cheer:
Again the gun Kato riders setup
So with my ground sheet and Krusty’s trap and a few pegs we built him a swag as such :cheer: he was happy
We went for a wander bikes bikes bikes
Krusty made fire from his army, navy, SAS, SES or terrorist training
Krusty’s tent (orange) Dee Jays swag setup in the middle and my new yellow tent
Dee Jay having his first ADV dinner reckoned it was nice, it was the beef curry Nick
Krusty in the kitchen
Krusty’s fire, should have seen the yelling you got if you touched it
They let off a bomb shortly after that helped loosen the bowels somewhat, actually I shit myself  well almost
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi4l-TUEUU8&feature=youtube_gdata_player
We woke early and packed up in the dark, I had been worried that the battery in the Tenere was rooted as it had been needing charging and jump starting and this morning it wouldn start. Worse still my recently purchased jumper leads wouldn’t carry enough current to power a digital watch
:pinch:
We pushed it along the hill and it rolled started easy
we sooted out of the valley which left me wondering about the hard scary entry and exit out of the rally  we flew out
Couple of pictures of the valley
I left the picture taking site, came around the corner and found the mighty DR laying down and a despondent looking Sepo looking at it
He wanted a hand to pick it up, ha your kidding picture first  then I conducted a long draw out accident investigation
Conclusion he just farmed up
Further up the road we find Dee Jay out of fuel and with Krusty quoting $50/L Dee Jay used
V
Well maybe they drained a little out of Krusty’s
We took off,
I figured 1.6litres would get him to Mittagong easy
No it went about 16 klms and stopped, the is time he used
We fueled in Mittagong and had a pie, you get them at pie shops Krusty   eh Dee Jay p
Hey Nick I asked Steve Crombie who’s Tenere was better and he got down on his knee when he said mine
which is behind the WR he borrowed of Steve from Adventure Moto
King Dee Jay is now the Fully Loaded Man, he didn’t bring a mat to sleep on like soft you, no he bought a sleeping back and a can of fully loaded  His sleeping bag was covered in mud because it wasn’t in a bag and held on my just one ocky strap
Funny 405kms guys cheers
TB
