Last minute issues

Well it had to happen. I was doing all the prep on my bike tonight and decided at the last minute to remove the oil screens to drain the oil and clean them. Having done so I can’t get the gearbox side back in. It feels like it’s cross threading.

To add to the drama I was trying to this at 8:30pm at night with a crappy light in the garage. Everything is sorted on the bike and ready to rock and roll except I can’t fit the bloody screen.

Best get it sort’d then big fella. Is the screen stopping it from going in enough for the tread to start or does it start but wont tighten? Is there any signs of cross threading on the plug or the case?

The screen goes in fine and he first half turn is fine, then it tightens up. It’s definate;ly one of the threads. The male thread on the screen looks okay, it’s diffifcult to see the one in the engine case beacuse of the bad light.

I have meetings all morning tomorrow, may have to skip the Friday ride and sort it Friday/Thursday night.

Well should I remind you all the time what its like as you do regarding my sump plug or should I feel sorry and offer help,

You don’t need to, you remind me all the time about crashing which is why I retort with the sump plug thing. Seeing as we are obviously still feeling sarcastic do I need to remind you that I have stopped before breaking my engine case?

With a bit of messing around it’s sorted. Apparently the carbon steel plug (hard) wears after time and being inserted in the aluminium (soft) engine casing :huh: Either way they mechanic said he has seen it a few times. He ran a tap through which looked like it hardly even touched the sides and ‘hey presto’!

All I’ve got to do now is get 2 450’s on a tiny trailer, drive 3 hours to Micks’s pad, then kick back and relax

EDIT: Filling my engine and gearbox with oil would be a good idea too

MOTO’s bike is a goer and you wouldn’t believe it,on the test ride here in Wauchope he got to meet the local policewoman than wasn’t real impressed with his 4th gear wheelie.
Lucky he has his boy band good looks, as she let him go!!
