All the tests I did corresponded to leatts tests. It’s almost impossible to load the clavicles directly as the brace spreads the axial loading over the mid sternum.

Thinking about getting one, quite like the idea of having the leatt brace & the body armour that goes with it.

Maybe if there’s few of use getting one – we might be able to get a bulk deal, any one else interested ?

Chris I’d have to be in a bulk deal . It’s one of the shit parts of academic research that you have to be totally unbiased do you can’t just say to leatt that I’ll say it’s good f you give me one but having done the research and now with the lower prices I’d have to give one a go. Besides the thought of being a bevy is worse than riding a Katos.

    10. Would I wear one – seriously thinking of buying one particularly as the price on them has come way down

    Snowy,

Thanks for all your effort…..not that I know much, but since they first became available I got one…it seemed to make sense.

I gotta say, I did have a double take at your point 10.

I can’t believe after what you have deduced, after the hundreds of hours of work you’ve put in……………………..you are only considering wearing one because they are getting cheaper now!

What price do you put on possibly saving your life or being able to maintain the use of your limbs! I know it’s not guaranteed, but even if it’s PowerBall odds………wouldn’t you like to think you’d done everything you could of to help yourself?

(this bit following is not directed at Snowy, but ‘people’ in general)
I wish you could buy a “Benny Hill” style hand that would slap you in the back of your head every time you got lazy or complacent about anything. The ‘she’ll be right’ attitude will come back to bite you eventually, just when you don’t expect it! DON’T BE LAZY

For F*$# sake, buy a few less cartons of piss or a few less packets of ciggies a year and buy one.

I couldn’t recommend them enough. both my kids don’t get on there bikes without them, plus there under body armour & knee braces. They cop heaps from there mates at races about all the gear they wear & how uncool it is. But it all saved my daughter the leatt especially. She had a bad crash at the start of the year, went over the bars face planting the ground, breaking her helmet. They believe at the hospital the only thing that saved her neck was the neck brace. unfortunately due to that accident she wont ride again she is still having tests & appears she has blood on the brain so her bike will be for sale it will be posted later. but even though she can’t ride anymore we still have her with us & if she wasn’t wearing the leatt she may be in a wheel chair or worse. so if she can’t ride a bike anymore who cares we still have her.

Okay of to the shops now to buy three leatte braces, one for me and one each for my two boys. Mate you are absolutely correct what’s $400 bucks for your kids safety!

Such an open ended argument for and against these braces. How can you know if they help or hinder in all the different circumstances.

There is no way of knowing if they are worse or better for your safety in any given situation. Strange for a safety device really.

When it all boils down, motorcycle racing/riding is dangerous. You or your motorcycle may be injured/damaged or worse.

I respect all who choose to use neck braces. I hate the thought of a safety device that does intentionally transfer force to your spine. So confusing.
