Oh, that sux Wolfie. I feel your disappointment
I’m braced for pretty much the same “8 to 12 weeks” scenario (hopefully not more than that!) on Monday too. Looks like you and me at the birthday bash as injured drinking buddies … hey, we can even have beer for breakfast seeing as we’re not riding!
Ah well, keep smiling
and look forward to the Busted Old Bulls ride once we’re all back on the bike :woohoo:
May 3, 2013 at 10:56 pm #240945So sorry to hear that wolfie, but you gotta turn in around into a positive mate :S …………………………..
I know, get a little bell and plonk yourself on the lounge, then every time your motorbike dvd finishes just ring the bell and one of the kids can come and change it to another one for youChin up mate you’ll be back bigger and better than ever
May 4, 2013 at 1:22 am #240946There needs to be a Steve Austin award for the most rebuilt rider of the year.
Or six million dollar man.May 10, 2013 at 10:33 pm #240947after speaking to the doc and the specialist both have come to an agreement that my ankle will never heal :pinch: , it is about as good as it will get to due to the 2 breaks near the pivot point in the ankle , they said they can fuse the ankle and ill never get movement again ,gone home and tried walking around the house without the boot ,yep im walking and have some movement, and it not to sore , strapped ankle up jumped on bike for an easy lap mustering some sheep in the hills for crutching pulled up ok , spoke to doc he cant work out how im walking or riding , im just going to take it easy for the next cpl months without the boot and gently try and strenghtn it the best I can,
May 10, 2013 at 10:46 pm #241578That’s no good Wolfie,
I had mine broken at work under a horse some years back and although it functions it just does not feel as solid as it did.Good luck with the mending and watch out for uneven surfaces

Enjoy it Wolfie!
May 11, 2013 at 12:22 am #241580Wolfie, that’s shit news to hear, but it really sounds like you’re going to be one of those “cases” where you defy the doc’s!
I don’t know if you’re a believer of natural therapies, vitamin therapies etc (I am); but at the least get yourself a good muti-vitamin, some joint restore formula with Glucosamine + Chondroitin + MSM, and some soluble Calcium with Vitamin D3. Take them religiously whilst thinking positive and taking it easy.
I reckon you’re going to be OK
May 11, 2013 at 12:26 am #240948Hey Wolfie,,, How`s it going mate ???
I have had similar dramas for the past 3 years with my ankle/foot and it will never be much chop either!!!
It sounds like broken glass every morning for the first 6 to 8 steps then comes good, the missus puts the pillow over her head if she`s awake `cause she hates the noise it makes  :laugh:I recently snapped a third of the knuckle of the foot end of my little toe on the same foot (non bike related)
and that is looking like not being much better
Anyway, my point is that I can still get out there and have a ride, I`m sure you will be able to as well mate when you strenghen it up a bit. Just adjust your riding style to what suits mate,,,
Time on a bike is always good ,no matter where or what you get up to I reckon
Cheers

Yeah Raz !!!
I take the same tablets daily, have done for a while (ten yrs on & off since first knee operation) & they make a difference.
I really notice it(discomfort that is) a few weeks after I stop taking them, so I just stay on them nowI`d give them a go Wolfie,, just make sure you get the 1500mg ones
May 11, 2013 at 1:01 am #240949Yeh! that’s the way mate,If we did everthing the dock’s recon,,,god help us.Botom line is that it’s holding up ok,and like the guyes said, with the rite care and meds yu can still kick on.
I thought that my riding was over with the last break, and I’v had to make some changes to my attitude towards riding in order to keep it up,,it was a bit hard at first but,,,the main thing is that I’m still out there in the bush that I love ,on a dirt bike :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: only now I ride to go home in tact.:cheer:
Hang in there mate.
Cheers Teza.May 11, 2013 at 1:51 am #240950Thats worst case almost Wolfie !
Hope your doing ok with getting such crap news mate, but i guess you just gotta move on. Sometimes the docs say this is rooted or thats needs an op and you can get past this stuff.
Just coming from my daughters netball have you seen the ankle braces they use ? They will hold your ankle rock solid, lace up and velcro up over the laces, you will never roll your ankle in one.
Their not that expensive $70 each when its time for some dirtbiking should fit in your boot.
Cheers wolfie
p.s 661 make them for skate etc…

May 11, 2013 at 5:59 am #240952The brace is a great idea,,,
Cheap arse boots are the main reaon I came to grief with mine ,,
Since buying the better quality boots I have had no probs,, nearly tweaked it once, but the support in the boots saved me I reckon :whistle:Not sure what boots you have Wolfie, but maybe an upgrade may be an option too, to assist you get back on the bike with more support
Cheers
