Ok I ordered one of these from the link Krusty posted (Thanks Krusty). Certainly cheap enough. I tested it out yesterday on my MTB on some local singles. When I uploaded to Youtube I did the shake reduction thing and I’m not sure if thats a good thing as it does some funny things to the image. Recorded in 720.
Seems ok but the camera seemed to struggle with the contrasting sunlight coming through the trees.
August 24, 2012 at 11:43 pm #228387Good edit Scotty.
Looks like another iMac man out there
The anti shake software removes pixle count in an attempt to stabilise the shot and replaces them through a process called interpolation. This is what gives that wavy look to action footage so you are better off not to use it. Just set the camera on the most stable mount you can and film on the highest res possible.
It seems the light metering is sub the standard of the GoPro but it is half the price. I would be keen to see it at 1080 with no stabilisation.
Good looking singles for pedal!STM
August 24, 2012 at 11:59 pm #227204STM for the price I’m happy with it. I will play with the setting and try on my moto. My MTB helmet is not the most stable base as it move around a bit. I think some of the lens flare from the sun may also be caused by the protective cover. I will give it a run without the cover and see.
Just playing with it now, the Wifi aspect is cool. I am watching the videos back on my iphone via the Wifi,
The waterproof cover is not available yet which is a bummer as I will be doing some snorkelling over the coming weeks and it would have been good to test out.

Enjoy your trip to Fiji!

Another bit of testing just for fun.
August 25, 2012 at 7:51 am #227205Nice choice of music Scotty, you were moving along nicely as well for an MTB too!
IVAAugust 25, 2012 at 9:51 pm #227206Cool Scotty… Mine arrived on Friday… Need to get a card for it… Will use it in 2 weeks time… Looks acceptable for the price… Cheers…
August 25, 2012 at 10:12 pm #228424Thanks Scotty … been wondering how others are going with theirs. Looks completely fine I reckon.
How’d you go with mounting it? Just the tripod/flat plate it came with?
August 26, 2012 at 1:56 am #227207Razzle so far I’ve only mounted it by cable ties, not even pulled the double sided tape off yet. This is easy on a MTB helmet as they a full of holes but wont work will a moto helmet which will no doubt need a curved mount. This is a pain as the curved mount and other mount options aren’t set to be released till September sometime. The mount clip look the same as the Gopro, it would be good to get together with someone who has a Gopro and confirm if they are the same.
Yesterday I strapped this thing to one of my RC cars and gave it a bashing and other than a few scars it’s come through fine.
Can confirm it has a metal case.
A little clip of some of yesterdays shenanigans. Uploaded in low definition as I am impatient and sometime my connection is slow. You’ll get the idea though.
August 26, 2012 at 2:25 am #228430That’s hilarious! … was that the camera being used as a drag-bar during the wheelie! Shit you’re tuff on you’re new toys  Glad to hear it’s metal
Yeah, TB mentioned in an earlier post that the mounts look the same as a GoPro, be handy if that is the case.

Thought it was going under the truck  :pinch: One thing but driving it on the road you may need to watch out or someone may post something like

Thanks for the link Krusty. I just viewed this thread and liked the little camera so much I’ve just ordered one from Top Buy too
September 4, 2012 at 4:57 am #228517I just got a call from Top Buy one week after my purchase saying they have run out of the black cameras until the end of the month. They do have white, blue and red and are getting some of the new Yellow ones this weekend.
I’ve got a Yellow one coming next week instead, should be easier to see when I rip it off my helmet and it’s lying in the scrub
I bought a 32gb Class 10 memory card too on the same day and that hasn’t turned up yet either (from a different company).
The dis-advantage of buying cheap I guess. Though in fairness I had forgotten I had ordered them both
