I’ve got a Yellow one coming next week instead, should be easier to see when I rip it off my helmet and it’s lying in the scrub
I bought a 32gb Class 10 memory card too on the same day and that hasn’t turned up yet either (from a different company).
The dis-advantage of buying cheap I guess. Though in fairness I had forgotten I had ordered them both
Hey Moto…. Top buy took 5 working days to deliver my black one… I picked up a class 10 32gb mini sd card from jb hifi for 60 bucks…
Tried mounting the camera on my helmet and it is too round   Going to try it on the peak and also getting another mount to try on the front fender… The iPhone app is cool.. nice being able to perfectly align and even zoom the camera before beginning to record…
September 4, 2012 at 5:17 am #228897My Sandisk card was $29.85 (just checked) but I would have paid $60 if I knew it were that cheap from JB Hi Fi, it will be alright now as my camera has been delayed anyway
I need to see it but I wouldn’t mind to fashion a rubber mount to directly fix it to my helmet. We’ll see, might not be a goer.
Looking forward to getting my hands on it now that I’ve remembered I’ve bought a new toy
September 5, 2012 at 3:25 am #228901Anyone know of a case for an iPhone with a clear screen and able velcroable? I want to mount my old iPhone 3GS somewhere on my bike so I can use it to control the Liquid Image camera settings and functions.
Any smart ideas from you learned and experienced camera using people? I have seen the armband style iPod cases but would rather mount it on the bike if possible.
Also, does the camera have to be upright when filming or does the lens autorotate when mounted on its side? I was assuming it does and would therefore be easy to mount to the helmet, tucked away. If it has to me mounted vertically that resticts things more and my master plan has gone out of the window!
September 6, 2012 at 12:08 am #228945Can anyone confirm of the GoPro can be mounted 90 degrees out of horizontal. I know it can physically be mounted this way but does the lens correct for new orientation? I don’t think it does but I’d like to try and confirm either way.

IMovie let’s you rotate and crop so that you can compensate for the windscreen. As you will be cropping shoot in full res so as not to lose quality.

September 10, 2012 at 8:13 am #228994So my camera turned up today and I have to say I’m impressed. I was expecting the quality to feel a bit cheap but the build of the camera itself is better than the plastic Go Pro. It feels solid, is really nicely finished and has a satisfying sort of weight about it. It’s gotta be heavier than a GoPro.
The instructions are basic but cover all that I guess you need to know. When changing between video modes the LED lights up different colours, it would keep TB amused for days!
The mounts look the same as the GoPro, I haven’t tried to fit it yet. I hope it does fit because the bad thing with this kit is that you don’t get any curved mounts. The GoPro kit you get with the camera is much more comprehensive.
I can’t even have a proper play as my memory card STILL hasn’t turned up. Serves me right for buying cheap I suppose.
I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve had a play and recorded some movies, but from Scotties earlier findings and my initial impression I reckon it will be a great cheaper alternative to the GoPro.
If you were more serious about doing the filming and editing, I would still go for the GoPro just because it’s the industry standard. I think this will be fine for me though.
Now I have to figure out iMovie too
Oh, and for some reason the app in the iTunes store that you need for the WiFi is ‘not currently available in the Australian Store’? WTF is that about?
Razzle/Scotty – Are you using ‘Actionconnect’?

Just tried again in the App Store and can’t find it at all though … dunno what’s up with that??
September 10, 2012 at 9:03 am #229219Moto ,I’m interested why the GoPro would be better than other devices for filming and editing , I’ve only had one go at editing with iMovie last night and found it very simple (although time consuming) to use for the basic stuff I would do. I thought if the camera records in the quality you require then the editing process would be the same. Like I said this is new ground for me and I’m interested in finding out the pros and cons with different cameras

September 10, 2012 at 10:20 pm #227208The gopro and ego do nothing other than record the video in a specific way and has nothing to do with the editing process.. iMovie is a great little app and a no brainer to learn as Nick has discovered. The output of the editing process will only be as good as the input quality of the video.. STM has shown you can do some pretty cool stuff using the basic editing tools… Good camera with good recording will produce good edited outcomes imo… It is just time consuming…
I recorded 4 decent length videos at Clarence this past weekend with my LI-Ego and I was impressed.. I recorded 720p @ 60 frames per second… There appears to be be a slight shake in some footage but I’m not sure if it is the Camera or the odd movement of me head while riding… I just bought a bunch of mounts and I’ll be setting up various points on the bike to experiment with…
I recorded a full 14 minute blat through some of the pine singles and the file size raw came in around 1.35 gig.. I think for an average using 720p @ 60 frames per second about 500 meg per 5 minutes.
I had no issues finding the action connect app in the app store not sure why you guys seem to have trouble.. It is a nice little app to pre setup the camera view but unless you have the phone mounted on your bars it is a bit a pain in the a$$ to use imo….
September 10, 2012 at 10:30 pm #229240I’m not suggesting the camera quality is linked to the editing process in any way. What I meant was that if I was a more enthusiatic camera user (typically spending more time cutting and editing movies than most) I would go for the GoPro.
The reason for this isn’t because of the quality fo the recording, it’s because GoPro is more mainstream, have more choice of mounts to get creative with and will have more accessories for it.
For me, and most of us I think the little liquid image camera will be the go, particularly if you want to save some coin over the GoPro.
The app is most definitely not in the app store at the moment.
September 10, 2012 at 10:49 pm #229243I wonder if I send you the file for the app if you just put it in the apps locale of ur iTunes library if it will synch to ur phone? Never tried it, but maybe??
September 10, 2012 at 11:09 pm #229241Did I read somewhere the EGO isnt water proof?

It isn’t, only splashproof with the little plastic cover you get. They have a waterproof case like the GoPro one but it’s an extra and is supposed to be available at the end of this month.
It’s fine as is on the bike, but you can’t go surfing or diving with it.
Razzle – Yeah, it might work if it’s a free app, knowing Apple though I doubt it will be that easy.
