Big Thanks to Jonsa for putting this one on.

I got to Lostock on Friday afternoon and watched as Matts victims rolled in one by one. :)

Day 1 was great, lots of singles and some really great hills and wet logs to test all comers.

Dorothy (Drz400 piloted by josh) gave up the ghost not long after the first hill and we were down a sweep 2 hours into the ride. Terry from NTR took over sweep duties on the 450 KTM and we proceeded to get everyone around the loop. Matt kept the best for last and the final stint on the 4 day practice track saw a few riders cry uncle and Im pretty sure Terry and the other 2 smoker pilot hatched a plot to do away with Jonsa right there, luckily he was safe at the TOP of the hill. 👿 👿

Day 2 arrived with a large amount of overnight rain that made the planned red-clay hills impossible. We split the new group into two. Jonsa and I were to meet Mick on the trails as planned and scope out the impossible hills over the far side of the range, not actually ride them. Meanwhile Josh the sweep got instantly promoted to ride leader and led tim and Murph around the previous days singles and hills.

Not sure how the others got on but after meeting up with Mick we went to “Just have a look” and that turned into a full circuit of the Day 2 route that got us back to camp after 7 hours, a shitload of creeks and numerous wet hills later. Pure dumb luck that the impossible hill missed out on the majority of the rain.

Well our trip to Lostock was my second time I’d been there. The first being 30 years ago in an old Landrover where we spent a weekend at the Landrover lease. So close to hitting a roo it was not funny. Stupid fella came out across the road making me lock up a couple of times to wash some speed off the Nissan. Just when we thought he was clear he began to turn and go back across the road. Luckily for him he lost traction and slid out letting us pass only inches from his head ;)
Once at the caravan park it was decided that Josh would lead Tim and I around a loop while the others did something else :side: The first hill we came to was bloody hard work, with it being as slick as wet glass after the rain. I made it up unassisted, but only just. Tim needed a little snig at one very slick section and to be honest I don’t know how he got up with the bald rear tyre he had on. (He later told me he was going to get up no matter what, so he didn’t have to listen to me whinging about him not getting a new tyre before the ride  ) Josh had big troubles and decided to go around and meet us at the top on the borrowed Husky. Some more open stuff and we found our way to the Allen river. From there on we rode some nice singles with a few log hops to test us. Josh was having issues with the borrowed bike in a long section of single and he was glad to get it out and back onto the open stuff. Very long transport section back to camp. Unfortunately Joshes bike gave up and I had to go back with the trailer to pick him up  I think we all stayed upright all day, which was a miracle in the very slick conditions. Thanks. B)

Its funny to watch where you fella’s had some issues and compare that we had our issues

Yup, Gumby moments are my thing :)

Shame the crystal ball was on the fritz, would have been great to stick together. Mick the mystery rider we met in the bush was very grateful Matt kept the appointment and its a long way to go if that first hill is a no go.

There are some great tracks on the Day 2 loop I’m sure you and Tim would enjoy, there were times I almost felt guilty for having so much fun. ;) . Hopefully try again soon for both days if Matt posts it up again.
