AnonymousYeah, I hope the 570 Berg is there, it’s the main one I’m interested in riding! ’09’ or ’10’ doesn’t bother me really

September 27, 2009 at 7:06 am #153104would like to thank sutto s for the rent a bikes rode the ktm 200 -250-300 two smokers and the ktm400 and husaberg 390 all nice bikes but the little two hundred was pic of them on the special test track while the tyres where pumped up in my opinion closely followed by the berg .That little 200 was just to much fun did not want to give it up but it got a flat tyre ?

AnonymousYes Rocket it was great of Sutto’s to do that for us. I rode the Husaberg 390, the 200 KTM and the 250 KTM. I really liked the 390. It was soooo nice to ride. However I do recognise that it would probably still be a bit big for me in the bush so I will stick to my WR.
I hadn’t been on a two-stroke for a couple of years so I really enjoyed the opportunity to have a go of a couple. The 250 was very snappy whereas the 200 was a little tamer.
Everyone that I talked to who had rode the 390 really enjoyed it. I think this bike will definetly move up the ranks in the popularity contest in future.
Thanks for the opportunity Suttos!
September 27, 2009 at 10:29 am #154241those bikes were brand new the first bike i rode had 5klms on it hope i run it in right wonder if anyone fell of one

Big Thanx to the guys from Sutto`s for the ride day today!!!
I personaaly didn`t ride any of them, but had a chat to Sutto & thanked him for the opportunity & the continued support to OBTTop Bloke !!!
Please do yourself a favour & talk to these guys about your needs for bikes, spares or gear, as they are there to help us & we in turn should return the favour where possibleI did however take the opportunity to Test Ride a few of the trusty OBT steeds
Thanx to KylieD for the ride on the WR250R, DanD for the ride on the angry WR450 & Superunit for the blast on the KLX450!!!I had a ball on all 3 bikes and really appreciated the chance to have a little test time to myself,,, Must have looked funny ridin` around on the WR`s in the Kawasaki jersey though
Cheers

AnonymousMy first ride was the 300 2 smoke KTM and I thought it was an awesome ride. The grunt low down is no 450 but it has plenty there. Power on the pipe is nothing short of awesome, a very rapid machine. Vibrations were not noticable and the suspension felt smooth and progressive out of the box.
The 530 was next and I felt that it was a bit snappy right off idle as though there was a slight delay in throttle response followed by a surge of power. The snap at the bottom was fun and it lofts the wheel easily in most gears with a quick flick of the wrist. In all, not a great deal faster, I didn’t like the sound of the exhaust and I felt the engine seemed a bit noisy. Suspension was as the others and operated very well for an ‘out of the box setup’.
The next bike was the 200 2 stroke that I only wanted to ride to compare to Tyne’s bike (99 KTM 200). Holy crap, I loved this bike!!!! I liked it so much that knowing nobody was using it I took it for a long spin around the enduro loop. The power the thing makes on the pipe is awesome for a 200cc bike and yet you can still lug it along in a higher gear. For best results it does need to be revved but boy is it fun to ride. I’m with Rocket and would say the tyres had too much air and being lighter it did deflect a little. I had a ball riding this bike and would love to have one. I nearly flipped it twice getting ‘into the groove’
Lastly I rode the 390. I immediately noticed the subtle whistle that FI makes just off idle before the exhaust drowns it out. The engine is smooth and FI has a very nice feel to it. I wasn’t a fan of the akro pipe fitted. The suspension felt identical to the KTM’s and the engine had a good deal of ‘get up and go’ when you asked it. Cornering did feel good on the bike and it was very nice. I’m not sure if I was expecting miracles from the new engine configuration but the handling wasn’t as big a step forward as I had hoped, although it did feel noticably nimble for a bike of it’s size/capacity. This may have also been put down to the fact that I just wanted to go take the 200 for another rip!
Dare I even say it but I even liked the Rekluse clutch, it does make the bike even more ridable not having to think about stalling when coming into a corner and downchanging quickly through the box.
If I was to have only one bike in the shed a 450 Berg could be a real contender. I am in love that little 200 though and am thinking that if I can’t keep the 450 and get a 200 as well then I might end up going for a 300 smoker which I think will do everything I want (except oil itself
) Who would have thought I would say that?
Thank you Sutto’s for the chance to ride the bikes, it was a valuable lesson for me and added another dimension to what was a great weekend.
September 27, 2009 at 11:10 am #154245rode the 250 first very nice bike handled well a little peeky like kyle said but fun power got better the longer i rode it (brand new)it went up hills okay to found a hill climb.Next up was the 200 it handled sweet as lighter than the other bikes had a good broad powerband that was easy to stay in and you could ride it on the pipe almost everywhere it loved the rocks and ruts .very fast bike in the tight stuff and allso handled the hill climb well.the 300 was nice just like a 530 only a two stroke.the 400 was nice but had a different seet cover on it rock hard seet and more power than i expected (prably more than the berg that had an acropovic pipe)i think Chris loved it only done one lap (saw but on third day riding)the husaberge 390 took a few minutes to get used to a bit fatter between the legs but than felt good had a realy smooth power delivery and just seemed to handle good encouraging you to get on the gas sounded nice to liked that bike alot. Was getting a bit tyred at that stage to would be a good bike at the end of a big ride
September 27, 2009 at 11:16 am #154251hay moto they prably pumped the tyres up to hard on that 200 after i got a flat on it it had the least deflection of the bikes i rode
September 27, 2009 at 12:42 pm #154252I thought they would have needed to pry you off the bikes with a tyre lever,,rocket
They actually planned that puncture so that they could have the bike back before you broke it…….      :laugh:Apparenty it was mentioned rocket was like a dog with two tales…. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Rocket – The deflection wasn’t a big issue, I just thought it was slightly more noticable than the other bikes, like you said, I think the tyre pressures were to blame.
I ran 12.5 front and rear all weekend and was fine, I took some big hits on my last couple of laps on the poker run too, I have a big dent in my front rim to prove it!
I still can’t help but want to ring Sutto’s up today and order a 200 for myself!!
September 27, 2009 at 11:55 pm #154280How did the 390 hussy feel midcorner? were the gyros less noticeable or was it neutral and planted?
Moto get a smoker, more fun and that is why we ride.

AnonymousThe tip weight of the Berg did feel light for a bike of it’s size and the gyro’s didn’t seem to effect the bike in a negative way at all. It was a nice bike to ride and I could see myself on one, it was all tainted though after the fun I had on the 200.
Why of why they can’t have an oil tank on these ‘enduro’ 2 strokes is beyond me. Having to mix your own fuel/oil is stupid and annoying. None the less my cockles are warming to the idea of a 300. I wish I had ridden the 250 now
September 28, 2009 at 12:06 am #154286I agree Moto, it is just moronic to deny us that and so many other improvements already sitting on the shelf, one could be cynical about it and claim it is “tricklefeeding” the buyers but I don’t understand. My RZ roadies had excellent “on-demand” systems 20 years ago.
The 250 robably has the SX motor and the bore/stroke ratio lends itself to spinning up very quickly, probably too quick for most used to heavier reciprocating masses.
If I may as bold as to say “try a Husky 300” apparently they are a better overall package.
Moto have I ever suggested buying a 300?…..
