My grand father recently passed away at 99 years, which was a great innings. Just prior to his death he gave me this pic of him and my Grandmother with his 500cc BSA Gold star. I cherish this photo. Anyone got an idea what year model the BSA may have been??

Are you sure it was a gold star Mick, looks more like the m21 to me,(around 1937) the gold star had the gold star around the BSA emblem

    Here’s a link-http://www.mcnews.com.au/ClassicsCustoms/BSA/BSAm21.htm

1938 M20 or M22, uncle has a couple of the granfathers and his vrothers old ones, the header section is different and the muffler section is larger than the star series, but then it could be a 1937 like Hatto says, either way it’s one of the newer (late 30s) engines as the older ones had exposed pushrods and total loss oil systems.

Nice Pic Mick, sorry to hear of your Grandads passing, obviously he handed down the passion eh?

Sorry to hear about the grandad passing. But being 99 and a motorcyclist he did alright.I love that photo mick! What a classic But I just cant get past the body language of your grandmother. Like she was saying” I thought you said that when you got a new bike you would have to spend less time working on it!” Man I have heard that before. After seeing your shed with the stickers and that, you should get it blown up(the pic not the shed)and on one of those walls that would look great.

I think she was saying “So where exactly is the suspension for the pillion passenger”
