Met a few of you at the trials titles. What a pathetic bunch of old farts…. I should fit right in or It’s Mal’s fault. You choose.
WR450 08 model. Trying to keep it stock, complete with plastic bash plate, blinkers, number plate hanging thingy. Just going to ride the bloody thing. I will maybe mention it if I change something, maybe!
1996 WRX gravel rally car (for sale) think your quick and got a lazy $30,000. give this a go!

September 14, 2009 at 1:17 am #152590Hi Gareth, welcome to OBT.Right on both counts!! Old Farts and pathetic all in one.
WRX ay? I thought we had seen the last of those when Moto traded his hairdressers car for a Taxi. If you stick around long enough you know what that last bit is all about.
Thanks for the intro.
Cheers
MickSeptember 14, 2009 at 1:20 am #152594We may be old and pathetic but we are slow
Welcome aboard.

AnonymousWelcome Gareth, an unusual introduction which would be out of place if it wasn’t posted here
Good luck flogging the scooby off. What makes a 1996 Scooby go for $30K? I’m assuming all of the unnecessary interior has been removed, with some some light wheels and swanky tyres fitted? Suspension replaced, anti roll bars, roll cage, bucket seat with 4 point harness and a fire extinguisher and some engine work? You should post some pics, I’ll come a have a go if you want
September 14, 2009 at 4:11 am #152591Yeh HI Gareth. How sorry would you be if you didn’t have friends like me to put your car back together for you.
Welcome anyway mate. Business a bit slow today???
Hope you don’t mind me posting up a couple pics of the car. I know how good you with computers and all.
By the way Moto is an engineer so he likes figures.
WRX – about 200 Kw, about 800 Nm, flash gearbox (insert type Gareth), reasonably flash suspension. All the mod cons inside of a rally car, 2 seats, roll cage, trip meter, steering wheel, pedals and a gear stick. It’s actually well priced for what it is.
September 14, 2009 at 4:21 am #152627Mal,
Sneaking up behind you in the car, jumping into the forum on you… told you that AVO wouldnt work!
Yes, the little rex. That’s a Modena gear box and diff set (titanium shifters, dog engagement for the engineering types)25k on it’s own. Yes a bit of fun, nothing like getting air in a shopping trolley at 140. Mal had a short run, I think he thought it was OK.

September 14, 2009 at 5:07 am #152629Oh, so you’re THAT Gareth that Mal is always bitching about!! Welcome mate!
Hope to catch you on the trails!
September 14, 2009 at 5:18 am #152635Sorry Gareth the title confused me, see when I meet you at the trials you said Mal had no friends, so when I read the title for the thread I didnt realise it was a piss take, or a confidence booster for Mal, all the same funny title intro, will see you around soon I am sure

AnonymousMan that’s some torque! Might be a Quaiffe gearbox? They are pretty expensive, well, back in the mother land at least. I still want a good a go
Good work on posting the pics Mal, action shots too, can’t ask for better than that
September 14, 2009 at 7:51 am #152643Moto,
Not quaife (they do more classic car type I think)but Modena. Australian gear sets sold around the world, really the ducks guts. This one is Box # 8 of the super box series that he made, Simon Evans ran box# 7 when he ran this model back in the late 90’s. Use the clutch to launch then clutchless shifting both up and down gears so you can left foot brake (takes some getting used to)
September 14, 2009 at 8:21 am #152671Hey Gareth what’s to username about? I thought you would have used ‘G man’ as that’s what your employees call you

September 14, 2009 at 10:55 pm #152592Mal,
1inarow was the nickname that Ben (Silverstone tyre guy) gave me after winning Bathurst outright in 2004. The line goes “I have won 1 in a row you know” And no I havn’t won one since!!
Yes the G-man is my most usuall but actually started many years ago on pushbikes but relates to my always large Gravity muscles (gravity man) I was pretty quick down the hills some 82kmh down Mt Vic pass. Now if your the einstein type you’ll know that mass has no effect on velocity in a gravity type situation. So that means that it must be I just love going fast! 82kmh in lycra….yeah (wish you were going down the pass that day eh Mal??)
