Another top notch KTM_Rules production. Well done
Plenty of fun on Heart Attack Hill at the log jump. Yeah sorry about the take down.
Galey’s Hill , it’s getting too easy now. :silly: Well done Gocman. First time up Galey’s with the finely tuned 300.
The next hill will be longer and harder! 👿 👿 👿
Now to final the final chapter of the ride report with KTM @ the front.
February 28, 2012 at 4:02 pm #217293February 28, 2012 at 7:45 pm #217300Strikes that was a nasty tumble from Pete. :silly:
February 29, 2012 at 10:50 pm #217312Part 3
With KTM_Rules in the lead he set a cracking pace, dropping corner men at down trees and obstacles, we devoured a gnarly rock strewn fire trail with ease.
We crossed over SC rd into the swampy tracks, no reports back that any of the group had any dramas; we pushed on to the A4DE sweet singles. Ev if you want to know what awesome pine singles are, you need to ride these ones. Uphill, downhill threading your bike between the pines as fast as you dare. Loam, yes beautiful Sunny Corner loam, no dust, traction aplenty. Fallen logs and close riding with your mates. Good times. We pulled up at the end to regroup and it was a sea of KTM’s until Holeshot (DRZ), then dude (KLR) and finally Pete (KTM) and Mal 3.0 (Heavily Blinged up Christophe Nambotin GASGAS 300) arrived.
A short firetrail section and we were back into the singles. I tried to coax Tim into a challenging 3m loose climb up off the firetrail but he was not keen. Maybe if I had done it first he might have.
Just as I thought KTM was taking us to Boot Hill, which is a real bitch if you are not on your game. A hill that climbs forever, not steep but it has some of Sunny Corners finest rock you will find. Line selection, speed and gear selection are crucial. I have seen a holed motor from a loop out / toss away job and plenty of steaming KTM’s here.
KTM_Rules took off with the pack in tow. I ran at the tail end to help mal out if needed. We had a hardy group as no one had any dramas. Corner men in place I continued onto a sweet single track to the regroup where KTM was pulled up with a big cheesy grin. Hang on; Marty 450 and Mal were there. They must have overtaken me somewhere. It turned out that Marty450 was having bike issues and had to head for camp. As Mal was no longer sweeping Boot hill, I went up again to round up the lads.
At the regroup the tourists had to unfortunately pull the pin and head for camp as they had to travel. Then the rot set in with Gocman, Pete and Holeshot waving the white flag as well with Mal leading the way.
I choose to hang with KTM_Rules and get some quality time on the trails following an expert rider, close behind but not to close. We only rode for another 45 mins through more of Sunny Corners sweet singles, the pace was high but I had KTM covered, just out the roost from the beastly 530. We did tackle some gnarly crap as we made our own tracks on a few occasions rather than take the fire trail. I came up on a huge log across the track, and thought no way, but KTM_Rules hoisted the front up and over and carried on like it was nothing. I had to man up and conquer it as well.
We headed for camp and came across a very big hill that had been logged a while back, and a new hill climb for Mal 3.0 to practice on was the goal. I charged up through the mess getting halfway and stopping when it got very heavy going. KTM did the same but found a firetrail up the hill , or so it seemed, as he went across a little then shot the Kato out of a cannon and crested the summit. I rode over to find this fire trail and it was better than my line but it was soft as butter and the finely tuned 300 just wanted to dig trenches to China. KTM_Rules returned and we headed back to greet the lads at camp who all had smiles and stories to tell.
Thanks for the ride lads. Hope everyone had a blast.
Thanks to Mal3.0 and KTM_Rules for leading, sweeping and all those that took pics and or vids. It’s great to look back on a top day.
galeyktm300 ride ranking = 8/10
Galey out!
March 1, 2012 at 9:33 am #217391Top reports Galey and others. :woohoo:
I haven’t seen any footage other than Tims as we only have dial up at home and it takes way too long to download youtube clips. Work won’t let us open any youtube clips so I am patiently waitng on Dude to work his magic and combine extracts and make a DVD of the weekend.
Cheers
MurphMarch 1, 2012 at 10:00 am #217402How was Tims footage of the 3 steps?
Did anyone get footage of CJ overshooting the turn on the firetrail to the servo on Sunday? Marty450 gave him a hand to get the bike back up onto the trail.
I have seen Dudes magic on the trails so his dvds must be just s good!

you need a mirror on your KTM you go slow enough to check your hair :laugh:Bobby , Bobby , Bobby. I figure it as a way to pick up on any mistakes I MAY have made. Like the 2 steps I wheelied over the step but held it too long, the rear wheel whacked into a boulder and lurched me forwards.
You must be doing a bit of riding with all this rain mate.

Hard to see how steep three steps was due to the camera looking straight up the track. Still looks bloody tough though.
Unfortunately Tim didn’t get any footage of CJ overshooting.March 5, 2012 at 3:45 pm #217406Mal3.0 ,have you got any footage of Sunday you care to share that is newsworthy! :silly:

March 8, 2012 at 11:23 pm #217836Great vids fellas.
You can tell how steep some of those hills were by how your front ends kept lifting without much throttle!!

I’m trying to catch up with all the clips I have missed
There is some great footage amongst it.Sorry to Marty450 on “2 steps” .
I was coming up on Holeshot a bit too quick and didn’t know what to do with it
As ya’s know if you’ve ridden that silly loose crap at Sunny Corner “Sunny Corner loam”?????
Then its all over if you drop the momentum, even a tad.
Just looking for excuses for my poor attempt at said hill.
I remember riding that hill many years ago with my good mate Mal without any drama. :pinch:
Anyway
The Turkey is flowing, the music is rockin and I’m up for another one. 👿
