    dudes,

i went and did some laps in an RS Inpreza on sunday. sammy had organised it for my birfdy, back in august

it was great fun. it wasnt a fooly sik turbo one, but it went like a cut cat and was perfect for the track they had as it was a little tight. the back straight was just a little too long for second cog, so the last 50 metres was on the rev limiter

they put 2 cars on the track at the same but opposite ends, i caught the other bloke in 2 laps, god knows what he was doin? :P
after finishing way ahead of the others on time, the co-driver handed me a score sheet. i got 48 from 50, gotta be happy with that!! next best was 35 B)

i just wanted to keep going and going and going…but wasnt allowed to :(

im no possum bourne or carlos saintz by far, but i have 100 times better skills on 4 wheels in the dirt than i have on 2.
i practiced a hell of a lot as a P plater
the first thing i thought when i stepped out of the suby was…

….sell the bike, get a club car

    maybe one day B)

anyway heres some pics and a little vid…

    smart dick arse

i forgot to mention how slippery it was, its held in a disused speedway track and watered between drivers. it was on its edge dick, trust me

    good fun

but being 37 frigin degrees and a fierce northerly blowing yesterday the track was dry enough to squeal tyres in 6 laps

    Good stuff Menace.
Although the RS doesn’t look that fast I’m sure you were giving all it’s got. It’s different driving an AWD car in the dirt hey. Shit load of fun too.

Did they teach you to left foot brake?

yeah mal, id never driven an AWD on dirt before, well only the prado and thats a little hairy once it starts drifting
i was over correcting heaps as im used to the days of RWD.

i left foot brake anyway mate. the course was too small to really need to much and i was only tapping in on one corner to unsettle the car, rest of the time just backing of for a second would set the car up to drift.
the thing pulled up a treat on the u-turns. it had some bloody big brakes under it

as the track dried the tyres would make that funny screachy noise under hard brakes, like the real rally cars do….

    i love that noise ;)

and suby’s sound good to when they pop of the limiter :woohoo:
