Arrived at Budges at 8:30 for a prompt start. Joined by Teza Husky, Chris Husaberger, Wazzup, Ken and myself. Some I knew, some I didn’t but it always good to meet more Old Bulls
What was said to be an easy day just turned into one big adventure. Led on our way by Ken it was not long before the single trail fun began. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of trails that are at Menai. Small in area but it has a vast amount of trails of all types if you care for adventure. Every time I am there I learn new trails and usually get to show some too.
Thank you to everyone on the ride for a great day out. A few spills and a few curses and some very tired riders all managed to get home safe. All types of terrain were covered with some tight single trails, some tough sections, some tougher sections, some swear words  and some help from strangers :woohoo: . In the end it all came together
Thanks to Budge for the liquid refreshments on return and looking forward to my next adventure. Nice to meet Ken And Wazzup and thanks to Chris and Teza for a great day
Cheers

MurphMay 17, 2014 at 11:09 pm #256744Yeh,It was a big day out alright,I think we wound up doing about 40 k’s in over 4 hours of rock crunching fun 😆 I almost lost the 310 in a creek after a tree root which I though would be tricky to get my back weel over, took out the front, spearing it into the creek  :ohmy:It was a bit dodgy there for a minut, so with some help we draged it out to relitive safty. The boys then got out the bush saw and removed the offending tree root then proceded to clamber up some more rocks.
Thats pretty much how the day went on,a bit of riding,,next challange and so on.
I had a great day even though I did get a bit snippy looking down into that last ravine and I was done, check the body language out in the second last pic,,rooted  Any way after lots of piss taking and lots of laughs I got over my self, dug a little deeper and got on with it,and prest on through more singles and some pretty washed out FT,onward bach to Budges place, but I sure was spent in the end.
Big thanks to Ken and Adam for leading,Chris for sweeping much of the day. good to meet Wazzup for the first ride out there and Budge for puting up the ride and the cool ones back at yours, thanks heaps mate.
I would have loved a pic of 6 fairly rooted looking riders laying around on Budges drive way cold bear in hand  Great stuff.Cheers Teza.
May 17, 2014 at 11:13 pm #256745Thanks to everyone for turning out. Excellent day. 3 -4 hr ride turned into 5 hrs. A few running repairs carried out trackside – both on the Huskies and my Sherco overheating. Wazzup managed to attach himself to the back of another crew for 10 minutes, before he realised his error! Wish I had got my camera out when Tezzas bike was half submerged while on that particularly nasty single next to the creek!
Cheers to Adam and Ken (who actually isn’t Trailrailraider, who couldn’t make it at the last minute) for leading and Husaberger who did most of the sweeping although I think we all ended up at the back at different times!
I think we covered all terrains again – typical Menai . Good timesThanks for the photos Adam
I slept pretty well last night!.
Cheers budgeMay 18, 2014 at 4:06 am #256746Definitely going to have to get down your way soon Budge

May 18, 2014 at 8:13 am #256748Sounds good, let me know when that one is one Adam/Budge.
May 18, 2014 at 8:53 am #256769I agree, huge thanks go out to Budge Adam Ken and co for a great morning of riding.
having heard about the tracks at Menai it was good to check them out and what better way than a cruisey couple of hours with some fellow old bulls…
Well after the first 10 mins and the second decent get off for Budge I was beginning to wonder what I had got into ! still we carried on deeper into the rocky abyss of rock central with the cry of what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger ringing through the bush.
The photos look great especially one showing a slightly tired and hot Teza … don’t worry bro I was feelin your pain
I surprised myself by getting through some of the many step ups and tougher tracks and found it was a good test for the new (to me) Husky although some trailside adjustments were needed (thanks Adam) .
After plenty of fun a lot of camaraderie and heaps sweat we found ourselves back at budges for a welcome beer and a round up of the mornings activities.
An awesome way to spend a day thanks guys can’t wait to do it againwazzup
