The predicted “isolated showers” came to fruition and made for a wet weekend at the inlaws property at Comboyne. The rain came with a vengeance but that didn’t stop Moose, Kram, myself and our kids from having, another top weekend at the “Big Shed”.

When we say shed it is actually a step or two above what is normally classed as a shed. Here is the kitchen and lounge area.

Once every one arrived, Most of the brands were represented

    SDC11227.jpg

640acres at our disposal and a bit of rain made for a great weekend. Saturday arvo I took the boys out for a crack at some very wet trails and we had a ball.

Not all the trails were slop, some still looked like this.

    SDC11223.jpg

    SDC11224.jpg

We had a top time cutting about doing our best to roost one another and have a go at a few tricky hills.

    SDC11229.jpg

After a while, George’s YZ125 had gear box problems so we called it a day. When we got back to the shed the YZ dumped all its gearbox oil on the ground via the counter shaft seal. Bugger, said Moose.

    SDC11230.jpg

We then had a visit from Stuey, our token indigenous friend. He is a great fella and always a laugh when you are having a beer of 10.

    SDC11231.jpg

Being a “Blackfella” It wasn’t long before Stuey wanted a fire going, you’d think of all people a blackfella, could get a fire going but no, he had to resort to a bit of “white fella magic” to get the wet wood to burn

    11062011069.jpg

Once we got the fire going a few locals got wind that there was a party on and in no time we had party happening and a big cook up ensued.

    SDC11233.jpg
As per normal after dinner the guitars came out and we were having a top time.
Moose Alex and Kram had us entertained for hours.

    SDC11234.jpg

I can only imagine what was going on here,

    SDC11235.jpg

As the night wore on the more drinks were consumed and the funnier things became. The funniest thing all night was when Moose’s chair let go and I was Johnny on the spot with the camera.

    SDC11239.jpg
With the weather being so crap, and not looking like it would clear, we consumed more piss than we normally would and partied on till late.
Sunday dawned relatively fine and it looked promising.

    SDC11242.jpg

Some breakfast had me ready to ride while the weather was fair. Breakfast of Champions right there folks.

    SDC11241.jpg

More promising than Kram who was very seedy and Zy had gotten a work over by the bigger kids.

    SDC11240.jpg

A bit of a breakfast fry up usually fixes a hang over but it didn’t seem the help Kram who declined the chance for some mud slinging. Kram leant his Husky to George as the YZ was cactus and we all headed out to the scrub for some more fun.

    SDC11244.jpg

Connor was the first to come to grief when a small tree took him and the new 250 out.
    SDC11245.jpg

No damage done and we dicided to have a go at the greasiest hill on the property, just for laughs. With next to no traction and random greasy sticks and bark strewn about, momentum was the key and some committed attempts saw varying degrees of success.

Connor came unstuck after a valiant attempt.

    SDC11246.jpg

    So did Alex.

    SDC11249.jpg

    SDC11251.jpg

    SDC11247.jpg

    SDC11259.jpg

He made it eventually and did it several times again to prove it was no fluke.

    SDC11260.jpg

    SDC11262.jpg

George had a few goes at it to before he got to the top.

    SDC11257.jpg

    SDC11258.jpg

    SDC11256.jpg

It wasn’t long after that the weather set in a again and we called it quits as we were in a mess by then.

    SDC11265.jpg

The intention was to stay another night but with the weather set in like it had we all packed up and put an end to what was another top weekend at Comboyne……riding proper loam.

Awesome report mick, first photo of moose I’ve seen without a smile on his face, you guys certainly are lucky bastards having that at your disposal.

Yeah one of those rare moments that Moose wasn’t smiling. He was still laughing when the YZ was spewing oil all over the ground, I know it would take the smile off my face if it was one of my bikes.

Yeah we are a bit lucky to have the property at our disposal. :woohoo: At least our kids can get to ride in “the Bush” legally and now the boys are older they can head out on their own and we can sit back at camp drinking a few refreshments and listening to them having a ball in the scrub.

    Great Times there again Mick,

Sorry we pulled the pin on our trip to Knorrit (but the weather was looking crap) Kylie ended up sick as well Sat evening, so it was best that we came home anyway!!!
Next time I might even ride the 690 up to meet you guys and sample the Comboyne trails mate ;)

And yeah, that pic of Moose is the only time we will probably ever see him like that (not smiling or laughing)
That should have been a competition in itself I reckon,, give yourself a prize Mick (here have some Old Bull stickers) :woohoo: :P

    Cheers

As usual another top weekend was had by all at the Comboyne Big Shed. Zy had a ball as did all the youngsters. It’s a great spot to let then get a bit of trail bike experience and I love watching Zy trying out new trails, hill etc. He watches the older boys and learns more from them than he would from me

I must of eaten a bodgy sausage or something on Saturday night cuz I woke up crook as a dog. I tried to fix myself up by downing a couple of panadol but mistakenly washed them down with orange juice. That was my morning done and dusted right there.

It was a pity the rain put an early end to the weekend but that’s life.

We’ll just have to look forward to next time.

Now there is a kid that deserves to go riding next time. Rain, hail, or shine Alex was gunna put a clean bike in the shed.
