It rained like a bastard here on the weekend. So I decided to start bolting the Project XR together.
I got this far before the lure of a new bike sitting in the shed got the better of me..

I decided I was going riding no matter how wet it was. I thought I would ride the 40 odd Km’s to Bull’s place and see what he was up to. I headed off and dropped in at Moose’s place, to see if he was keen but he had shot wheel bearings so he declined the offer. The big black clouds looming probably helped his decision. No sooner did I leave Moose’s it started belting down,so hard I had to put my left hand over my nose to stop the sting of the rain. Soaked but not beaten I continued on, headed for Bill’s. I thought I would try and keep off the tar as much as I could so I turned into Cairncross SF and took a short cut that Moose showed me a while back. It involved a creek crossing or to that were rather swollen but the new XR took them in her stride. The last one I had to cross was running faster and dirtier than the last few sow being on my own I decided not to risk it and headed all the way back to where I entered the bush and continued on by tar road.
I I got to Bill’s to find out him and Dave (AKA KTMRAT where already out in the bush with the kids on 85’s and 65’s.
So I eventually caught up with the crew and we had a ball.Dave’s young blokes were having a ball in the greasy conditions and so was I on the new XR!
WE ended up at the Devil’s Punchbowl and had a look at it with a heap of water crashing over it, well worth the effort.
Did I mention Dave Wasn’t on the mighty 576 Kato but a DR200? I got the chance to follow Dave having a “bit of a go” on the DR..it was one of the funniest things I have followed for quite some time.
The conditions in the Bush could be described as VERY WET but FUN!
Once we got back to Bill’s,I had to scrounge some fuel off Bill so as to get home(Thanks Bill). I was just about to leave Bill’s and the heavens opened again, I waited 10 minutes and it was obvious it had set in for the afternoon so I decided to head for home in the belting down rain.
2 minutes into the trip home I was soaking wet but still having a great time.I road home on the tar, all the while waiting for the knobbies to let go on the wet tar.
I got home safely and cracked a beer and then replaced the wheel bearings in Moose’s XR while sharing a story or two with him. By 8pm, I was hammered(so was Moose) and it didn’t matter to me that the OBT site had crashed…I had a great day out ,so thanks to all involved.

All was great for riding in those slippery conditions, My boys had a ball and wasnt it funny to see Bull crash with a pillion, and he says he wont go on the back with me, The highlights of the day were seeing the slipping and sliding of that 85 super cross bike of Sams,it goes off,Willy getting it together going downhill without me telling him (in the loud outside voice) to stand up, Lachlan just being Lachlan, and blowing the doors off a 650 honda on a 200 two stoke DRZ also did I mention the doctor had a flat front trye Mick, I think I feel at home in the wet with a flat , it always seams to happen:laugh:

Yeah Dave I will grant you that. You made it through a whole ride without crashing too.
You also looked funny as, in all the KTM bling, orange boots and all, peddling that DR as fast as you were. Admittedly the DR didn’t fare so well from you riding it, with the 90 degree brake pedal and all.

yeah I was just speaking to him and he says the front end is twisted as well as no rear brakes, well that explains why I couldn’t get it to stop, WTF he should know better than letting me ride it:laugh:

If we are gunna go for a ride when I am down there, it will have to be on the monday of the NSW long weekend, that is, if Ant will lend me the 530.
