But you could start looking into a JD jetting kit.
    Desnorkle the airbox.
A nice pipe and a hotcam maybe worth a look to if you want to get her really cracking.

    Hi Scotty,

you’ll probably just have to trawl the google pages :(

    http://www.rickramsey.net/CRF250Xmymods.htm

“Pink wire” maybe, and the foot break lever mod makes sense.

270 big bore kit? :silly: :woohoo:

there is a lot of talk on thumper talk.

The valves on some were an issue so it would worth keeping your eye on them and regularly checking for problems/tolerance issues (I refrained from adding to check for the valve in your exaust pipe ).

Hot cams seem the go with the CRF’s and of both people I know that have fitted them say they were a great mod with noticable power increases.

Hold the throttle on longer, get on the brake later and get on throttle earlier

Seriously, get your suspension done by a professional first, its the single biggest and best mod

After that worry about pipes, big bore kits, bling etc

Since you stated you wanted more bite I mentioned the apparent effectiveness of the hotcam, but I agree with TB, if you want to actually ride faster getting your suspension setup would be money well spent :) Followed by a steering damper too (although I still don’t run one).

i was told by greg ball, a very reputable engineer with a lot of experience with crfs, not to put stainless valves in the 250 as it robs a noticeable amount of power from the motor. just putting an after market pipe with the right jetting and a couple of teeth up on the rear makes a really big difference.

Hey scotty . I have an 08 250x aswell. I’ve already done the air box mod and within the week should have a new pipe on. Will let you know how it goes… But there’s still plenty of mods to do. Just google crf mods on the net. Then start saving your coins!

have you looked into the stuff you can do yourself? only cost you some time.

may be look into a teeth or two bigger on the rear for now, until you get the suspension sorted. give you that bit more punch out of corners etc.

scotty h, I’ve put a pro circuit ex-haust tip and header pipe on my 250. Have only had one ride with it so far , The difference I found was in the mid range ( a positive difference for sure). It rode ok with out any mods to the jetting, So when I get around to it I’ll have a little muck around with that aswell, Maybe even a dyno tune!!!
