What a day:woohoo:
Everyone turned up on time:) Novice with a front flat so it was down to the shed for a quick change;) The v/v stem had parted from the tube. 20 minutes later and we were off:) After a few kms I’d ran out of corner men which is not a good sign:( So it was back to where the problem was. 300Jack’s bike had stopped only 1/2 a km into the bush:huh: Morgo (sweep) helped him put a new plug in and made sure he was getting fuel. We then tried to clutch start the Kato with no success and that was the end of the day for him:(
Sam (son of Morgo) also had a flat rear within the first kms but was lucky enough to go home put some air in it (no puncture)But unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be as his gear lever came lose and his muffler broke off (had to pull the pin and retire early)
Off we charged again with Eagle testing the depth of every puddle:laugh: Evidently lost a couple in a creek crossing, “Ollie you’d remember that one” so most of the crew had wet boots by now:(
Continued out and under the trainline and into some singles that were under water at places:silly:
After negotiating our way through we arrived at the rock step up and decided to skip the next section of singles as time was slipping away:(
Novice had a few issues at the moto-X hill but after some directions and coaxing he maneged to get to the top.:cheer:
We didn’t stop to watch the moto-x so it was onward to the next hazzardB) Another rocky hill:woohoo: Novice had a few attempts but just ran out of puff so I rode his bike up. Eagle took a detour and came within a couple of metres of the top but just couldn’t get it so Morgo rode it upB)
After riding under the freeway we came to the hill where Al broke his ribs two weeks earlier. Novice almost made this one but nearly flipped it so we pulled and pushed him up the rest. Eagle also ran into trouble and was lucky not to brake hi left radiator when he came down on a large rock:ohmy: Morgo rode Eagles bike up and we underway again:laugh:
We opted not to do the second loop with the rocky steps too much delight of some of the crew:unsure:
We took the high track to the Gap but we had a few problems with the gullies just before lunch:( Novice redeamed himself on one of the snotty slippery hills making it to the top with styleB) A few more hills and a lot of mud we made it to the gap for a well earned burger:cheer: Refueled and ordered a burger before realising that Eagle, Novice and our Sweep had not arrived. Eagle had pretty much “hit the wall” and after some coaxing he made it up the last 100m to the servo:laugh: I then rode back a bit to find Morgo and Novice cruizing after have big issues on the last big slippery hill. Novice was buggered so I rode his bike up the last hill. Many thanks to our sweep (Morgo) as he had to ride up those slippery hills on a number of different bikesB)
Eagle and Novice left us and rode the tar home while the rest of the group took off down the southern sideB) Scotty had an off and said his right shoulder was making a clicking sound:ohmy: Scotty, Mick and Morgo headed home leaving Smurf, Nathan and me to continueB) Received a message from Scotty this morning and after a visit to the hospital, found out he had a broken collar bone and torn ligaments. Top points for him to be able to get home as it was a fair way through the bushB) “Hope you heal quickly Scotty”
The rest did the tracks down around Bangalow at full pace and we were feeling pretty fatigued on the way home.
Thanks to all that came along and hope to see ya’s again soonB)
Special thanks to Morgo for sweeping in such trying conditions:laugh:   :laugh:Pics may come later
Cheers:cheer:

June 29, 2009 at 7:19 am #141684Nice report Murph. Are you trying bust up all the old bulls mate! K9 two weeks ago, these guys this week.
Who’s up for one of murphs ‘last man standing’ rides next week?
Or should we put it, if you want a couple weeks off work then go for a ride with murph
Good you guys for having a crack at some tracks/hills you normally wouldn’t.
June 29, 2009 at 7:47 am #141658Yes it was a great ride Murph & Morgo;)
I was told you guys put on a good ride,,,, And it was correct:)
I have never been so knackered after a ride than that, I did manage to give the BROWN KLX a hose down in the arvo(removed most of the loose stuff, scraped the sticky gear off with a stick:laugh: )
Just gave it a CT18 wash tonite after work & she`s all shiny again;)Novice gave it his all yesterday & was glad that I had to split at the servo I think:laugh: Even MickP, who is a seasoned enduro rider (so I am told by GavB:P
) was considering calling it a day at the servo, but he soldiered on with ya`s!!! Legend
A BIG THANX to Murph & Morgo for not only the ride, but the encouragement & assistance to drag our sorry asses up some of that stuff:blush: It was pretty sloppy & rocky in places!!!
Great to meet some of the other new faces, great guys & great riders too:woohoo:

AnonymousYeah that was right Eagle. I had reached the end and we had only done about 20km at that stage.
A bad days riding still beats a good day at work though.
June 29, 2009 at 8:58 am #141660Right there my man
June 29, 2009 at 10:41 am #141661men,
glad you enjoyed it. I must admit I was surprised by how wet it was , some water holes I noticed still had water running into them. It was a good test for all. I just wish I had ahelmet-cam to capture all the lay-downs happening in front of me.
Scotty sorry to hear about the injury.must be a tough little bloke.didnt whinge or back off on the ride home. All I can say is bring on the next victims,I mean riders..
