better put in a report…
awoke to near perfect weather..great..9 riders started then we picked up 1 more top of Wangi hill.. that made 10 and we were away……..the tracks were damp, water holes filled after recent rains , it was great. Out to Awaba via our usual tracks and into our first single trail. We wound our way to the top of Lakes MX track without incident.Over the road and into the “valley of clay” . greasy and watching our step all made it thru , the rocky hill climb saw my bike stepping out bigtime and nearly cleaning up Murph in the process.
Over into the sugarloaf area and its wet ,greasy to start with but as we climbed the trail was beatifully damp.
All climbed K9 first go with some impressive wheelies at the top ,(I thought I was filming this but helmet-cam had shut down  )
Finishing this single loop and into the next saw us all locked up and sliding to the bottom of the gully :silly:
The climb out was good until the last bit of a climb challenged some.. a well needed breather was then had.
The next single was sweet with the only issue being a couple of duoble takes at a small greasy hill with the boggy approach claiming a couple of bikes ( me included)big climb at the end and another rest.last bit of single then fire trail to the gap for lunch. Hamburger
the Arvo saw us tackle the south side of the gap with it being muddy, greasy, rocky
The trouble with leading is that you get to test the waters(or mudholes)If you get it wrong at least everone else knows where NOT to go..see Murphs Photo
after our sigles we split into 2 groups – maniacs and sensibles. Maniacs went with Murph to tackle the Amazon.
The rest of us continued on with a plan to meet Murph and Co at the bangalow hut.
My group made it event free and waited with the leeches, enjoying mandarines off an old tree there..surprisingly sweet.Sick of waiting and getting late we left Murph anote and headed for home , event free. OLd Bloke looked shagged.Murph and co arrived home about 50 mins after..
Big thanks to all who rode, big thanks to Dude and Murph for sweeping, although with all riders moving along at about the same pace and ability they probably didnt have too hard a time..except for the Amazon
overall , good weather,good trails,good blokes = a bloody great ride..P.S – some video to come later.
May 3, 2010 at 8:59 am #177531TB, thats something we could definitely do. We could do something similar with a maniacs route and a grade 3-4 route, everthing joins up later.
Maniacs would have to wait for Murph to come back from WA. Its not my idea of fun , manhandling bikes, hacking up a lung etc..
Smurph will still be here I think, he could lead it easy.May 4, 2010 at 8:30 am #177565A Dudes view
Morgo’s Birthday Bash
Had been raining 2 days earlier and I was keen for a ride.
‘Conditions Perfect’Morgo led and took us down some different tracks than the usual ones.
The crew was moving along at a good pace all the way which was very good. After a bunch of single track and fire trail riding we arrived at the gap servo and every man and his bike was there, a good day for a ride.
More riding and the group broke into two as Murph wanted to go up a track called ‘Amazon’.
I asked him “Do you think I can make it up?”
He said “why not give it a go”Up Amazon
I don’t know if I should tell you the truth or just sugar coat my comments.
I go sugar coat. :cheer:
Phsyco madness.
Unrelenting uphill accent seemed like 100 meters between obstacles / challengers.
Finding ones own personal physical limits and exceeding them.
The hardest hill I have ever taken on, cause it was so long and took so much effort. We all made it. :woohoo:
Lets say that’s one item I can cross off my bucket list.
Another great ride thanks Morgo.
A day to remember.
Anyone who was on the ride that wants to get a copy of the DVD PM me.
