Mate, you should take it for a little spin on some dirt and some gravel to get an idea of what it’s like, that little bit of experience could well be invaluable in an emergency situation on a road ride.
As for motard ride etiquette, I think we can use our experience on the Pie in the Sky ride to come up with some sort of protocol we can follow in the future. It will be a good opportunity I think.
Normally on the road I ride with the same respect and safety in mind as when I drive a car but I cant help being partial towards other riders. I hope those who ride with me do the same.
I was not intending to have vests or corner persons on the ride, and no rules except for the road rules however, I will be briefing the riders at the start and each subsequent stop/re-gathering to make sure we know where we are going and who to follow, there will only be one ‘fast section’ and I have already thought about where and when to stop and update everyone so there will be no lost riders.
Mobile phones will also be usefull if there are any problems, we will have to make sure we all have each others numbers before we start off, that seems like a must for the new etiquette.
Notice I got all politically correct?
