Ha I spoon feed Mal 5.1 for the two days and carried him along, he should be thankful
Once the corners tighten up the motard bikes just zip away and has much as I could have gone faster some of the cornering from the aircraft carrier was spectacular sounding from Mal.
The only time the aircraft carrier troubled me was the top end as you know. You did great to settle into that bikes so quickly and get the best from it. You did look as though you were passing a brick on the dirt though :laugh:TB
January 18, 2010 at 5:35 am #168463As usual u are right TB on the dirt was very slow  and i remember u showing concern waiting for me on one corner because it was tight and dropped away quickly at the time i thought that was my play off the day and one vote for OBT of the year.

January 18, 2010 at 6:25 pm #168347Good stuff guys, sounds like fun. Bit rude when a bloke from Mangrove Mountain calls us imbred hicks though.Better go now, just got time to watch “Deliverance” before work.
January 18, 2010 at 7:06 pm #168713I had a great ride, thanks TB for organising and leading (and letting me overtake when your lane finished).
I would explain where we went on day 2 but it is easier to show the animated tracklog, see below.
It was a very big loopy kind of figure 8 almost for me, after going home from Berowra and the wet weather made my return trip a very wet, slow and cautious one.
“My ass hurts” never got heard but I can assure you I said that a lot on the way home.
Sitting on a wet sheepskin ain’t good unless you have waterproof pants on and I dont care what they say about GoreTex being waterproof, it is BS and I can prove it.
I think leather is the only solution. My toe got hit by a rock or something and was bruised pretty well, note: ride on balls of feet when ever possible.
Enough whinging!
I had an absolute ball getting to Pie in the sky but should’ve probably had the bike in cruise mode, not sport mode šThe ball in this track animation gives an “idea” of the speed …..
Press the little play button at bottom left if it doesn’t play automatically.January 18, 2010 at 7:25 pm #168715Hey Wikd it wont play it says the trip is private?

Arrived at TBs house about 12:00pm Saturday. TB grabbed my helmet and setup the Bluetooth while I got the bike off the Ute and got ready. We set off soon after heading for a servo so TB could fuel up. We headed down the back way into Emu Plains and off towards Windsor. Somewhere in Penrith we pull up at the lights and TB being the āI must winā sort of bloke, I said lean forward and say letās race across the lights. The lights turned green and I heard a big āclunkā, the right hand was not synchronised to the left hand and the Fiddy stalled. The racing style clutch was blamed but we all know how easy they are to use.
TB was swearing and cursing in the Bluetooth getting up me for leaving a mate stranded at the intersection. I was laughing so hard I nearly fell off my bike. Anyway he fired the big girl up and we move quite swiftly to Windsor. Yes you did round me up easy mate, you have a 100mm piston remember. Man how many times did a I hear that.
At Windsor we met up with Mal(Suttos), his girlfriend Natalie and Mals mate Aiden. We have a quite ale and Mick G turns up on the 650 hire bike with big arse panniers. Mick had already had a good ride. He rode from south Sydney up to Mt Victoria and back down the Bells Line Road. We wait a bit longer for another of Mals mates Fred and just as we are about to leave he turns up and we all head off for the Putty Road.
Out on the Putty we all cruise along, the big bikes stretch their legs a little bit and Mick G getting the hang of the hire bike. I had TB in my ear all the time telling me stories and pointing out interesting things to look at and also giving me heads up about traffic and road conditions. We get close to the twisty stuff and TB says ācome onā get up here. So I sneak up on Aiden and Mal and of we go. TB is playing rally navigator up front. ā3 right into 5 left into 5…..no 2 leftā in his best pommy voice. I was laughing so much at one stage that nearly missed a corner. Ross turned up at an intersection while we were waiting for the ānon motardsā to finish the fun stuff. Nice to meet you Ross. We got to a servo and fue up. As TB said some old guy came over to tell us about this sweet old man on a little green bike looking for a bone head on a big red bike. Old mate went straight to TB. We find Mr Eagle along the way and head off to the pub for some light refreshments and a gas bag.
We head in the general direction of Dan and Kylies place (I think) saying good bye to Eagle and Ross somewhere in between. We get to D family central and thereās a beer in the hand before the engine is off. We check over the bikes a bit and more beer is handed over. Mal, Natalie, Fed and Aiden head off home and before we knew it there are pizzas on the table and the invite to stay the night is extended. Thanks Dan and Kylie for a great night and a swim in the morning.
Day 2 coming

Sunday was a great day and quite nostalgic. We headed off around the top of Lake Macquarie, which is a very nice ride on the motards. Down through Swansea and off through Catherine Hill Bay. Murph and I spent hundreds of hours here surfing, fishing, spear fishing, diving and drinking. TB told me a nice story of him and Salina having a special moment there as well. We take the coast road towards The Entrance all the time TB and me telling each other old time stories from our younger years (aahh them were the days). We check on Mick and he has had his high beam on the whole weekend and all we can see in the mirrors is high beam and panniers. He was cruising along enjoying the scenery. We met up with Wikdbeemer for breaky and coffee. It was good to meet Mr Beemer.
We head down the coast road again, taking turns here and there and then up a road that I knew. Turns out TB dad lives up there so we stop and say Gāday and head towards Gosford. Turn down another road and I say to TB the my outlaws live up here and we drive straight past as thereāre not overly keen on the bike thing. Riding out of Gosford Iām lost, now I just follow TB and enjoy the ride and scenery with a little dirt thrown in to keep Mick and his panniers awake. We pop out at Ourimbah for fuel and then head west on a loop that was just magic. We just kept riding around in what seemed like circles and Iām told now that we were riding around in circles. TB was telling me how much he liked peaches, horses and Harley riders up through Mangrove
. Mick was getting keen on the panniers with wheels at one stage and rounded me up to take on TB. Those panniers were about 50mm from the ground on a few corners as Mick wound up the V twin :woohoo:. Good stuff to watch.
We pull into a club for a quick refreshment before heading to Pie in the Sky. We go over Brooklyn Bridge and TB says this will be fun as the twisty stuff begins. Beemer comes round the outside of me and the three of us do our best to maintain the speed limit through all the corners. What a fantastic short stretch of road. Mick said he tried stay with us on the corners but he had the hire bike excess in the back of his mind. We pull into the Pie cafe and TB says that was so much fun we should do it again. I said lets go and off we went back down and back up again. Beemer and Mick werenāt sure what was happening so they parked and waited for us. We had a pie and drinks and the rain came down hard for ten minutes. When it stopped we headed of south very carefully but the road had dried up soon after. We said good bye to Beemer at Berowra and the three of us left headed for Galston Gorge. On the way down to the gorge TB is telling me about his love for Fords and especially the XR6 in front of him  .TB tries to give a bit of a push through the twist but it seems like the XR6 had a governor fitted in the passage seat  . We stop and wait at the bottom of the Gorge and take in the serenity before TB fires the Fiddy up and kills any small animal within 100m and changes the direction of the creek momentarily. We have a nice run out of the gorge and by now Mick is at one the rental and right there with us all the way. Up at the top TB switches to reserve and says āweāll be right there heaps of servo out hereā. He decides that weāll go to Wisemans Ferry for a beer and we cruise off in that direction. Sometime later and a few small towns, no fuel stop is found and we realise that the next one is at Wisemans Ferry. Mick rides up beside me and points to his fuel gauge where I see the needle buried down past the zero mark. The Fiddy is starting to cough and fart just as TB rounded up a 4WD. I wish I had a helmet camera as watching TB try to āflickā his bike from side to side to get fuel from the other side of the tank was something to be seen. At nearly the top of Wisemans the Fiddy runs out of fuel and stops. With one dip to go and the bike rolling TB gives one more shake and clutch starts the bike to get over the rise and then rolls all the way into the servo at Wisemans (about 3km). Fuelled up we decide itās getting on a bit and head for home. On the way out of Wisemans TB is telling his love of horse floats and slow 4WD in front of them. We get around the float (quietly) and head of to Windsor where we say good bye to MickG who has a huge smile on his face. TB and I take a back road up to Springwood that zig zags itās way the hill and have a ball. Then some back roads to TBs place and itās all over. A quick refreshment while packing up and off home.
A huge thanks to TB for organising the ride and lending me the Bluetooth headset. It was so much fun being able to chat while riding. A big thanks for all the other riders turning up. Thanks to Mal(Suttos) and Natalie for the two up wheelie show, you made TBs day when he seen that.
And another big thanks to the D family for inviting us to stay at their place.
I know some people donāt think Motards or road bikes belong on a trailbike web site but at the end of the day its riding and we rode some dirt anyway.
