AnonymousWhat’s the point of testing a bike that none of us ride? From what Dave has said I believe that the benefits are greater for the smaller bikes, but that’s not much good for anyone here as it’s been a while since I rode anything smaller than 100cc’s
I’m offering my bike to give real world results for a bike ‘similar’ to that which we all ride
I’m well aware of how combustion works, I have worked for a combustion engineering company all of my adult life
I have heaps of other questions regarding this matter but will reserve them until more information is presented
August 20, 2009 at 3:41 am #149169Oh but young Moto, i beg to differ, the aim for I is not to gauge weather it is of use to purely your 4T 450cc/500cc riding middleaged bloke who can’t use all the power he has anyway and tells me he rides a 4T for the benefits of maintence, but in applications where the power and wear gains can be more appreciated ie: smaller yet higher output per litre, more stressed powerplants.
besides I have two sub 100cc 2Ts in my shed and 1 250cc 2T, are you saying that I’m abnormal??August 20, 2009 at 3:54 am #149186
AnonymousI don’t recall saying that I ride a 4T for maintenance reasons?
Anyway, my point was that testing my bike will provide a larger demographic of the site real world data than an 85cc kids bike will despite the fact that I’m aware there are a few guys with kids that ride. It’s a simple fact that more people here run 4t than 2t.
The best way would be to do it for both bikes, but that’s less likely to happen. In fact it look like I’ve just bought a KTM200 so I’ll offer that up, saves pharking my high maintenence 4 stroke that I can’t ride up
August 20, 2009 at 3:58 am #149190Where are the 12 pick up points for the test probes, do they drill and tap test ports around your engine it will look like

August 20, 2009 at 4:43 am #149192Mmm Moto far too defensive young padawan, congrats on the 200 bud, you’ll love the crisp power, the lightweight, the smile factor. Now i never said you were the 4T rider i was referencing, but we all know them… Oh yeah my 4T is the dux nutz, better than anything else and it doesn’t need rings every ride…..
usually on the lastest bike in all new gear, with an all-knowing “I read ADB” attitude. Now you’ve got a bike finally that doesn’t overcompensate for your manhood, you can begin to really enjoy your riding, and yes i agree it would be a good testbed.

August 20, 2009 at 5:21 am #149200Maybe Fellow Old bull, but I really do think a high stressed motor would be a better test bed than a lower stressed unit.
Sometimes the 4T sales push bugs me as the aftersales spinoffs is a huge factor in why they did the “let’s make a 4 stroke that acts like a 2 stroke, and tell them all it’s a good thing they must have”, now i appreciate a decent thumper probably moreso than the next bloke, I love my big singles, but why bother with a screamer that lashes the valves to bits and stretches timing chains quicker than a rubber band, and has rings thinner than a mosqitoes dik, and then hobble the 2t by making it run against capacities almost twice it’s own, to con the masses the 4T is actually competitive… what a load of Bullpooh.
Be like making the fastest 7 year old BMX rider in the region race the 10 years olds… (actually I make that comparo because it happened up here to my son, too fast for all the others in sprocket div, so he got to ‘accidentally” be placed with the older kids at a regional meet, he gave up BMX the next day, not cause he didn’t win, but because he got knocked off, ran down and intimidated)

August 20, 2009 at 5:28 am #149206I was actually just thinking I hadn’t taken my tablets today…. nah i reckon this whole subject has got us all (the thinkersthat is) thinking and maybe a little impatient, so we start to tear at each other a bit waiting for the next installment.
All good having a green t and a smoke now….

August 20, 2009 at 11:54 am #149224Luckily your only stirring White Bunger. I’ll give you some 2moking when I see you next.
If this thread and it’s magical technology has come down to hot ups for 50cc bikes then I’m checking out of it. Interesting but not relevant is not enough. Cheers
August 20, 2009 at 12:27 pm #149253OK 2T are dinosaurs like me

I’m dropping this cause it’s too smoking hot in this chamber
….besides everything old is new again and this I know for fact and that’s all that matters ATM.
i STILL LOVES YA’S all, especially you our token 4t riding closet 2T loving Pommie with the appeal of Robbie….luckily I don’t swing that way.

AnonymousOKay, back to the topic at hand. Do we have any response from Bull or Rat about TB’s or my offer?
August 21, 2009 at 1:58 am #149299From what I learnt on the phone from Dave yesterday I wouldnt hold your breath and wouldnt wait to be overly amazed in my opinion.
There are improvements that was agreed, but its a compromise within a compromise and its only making it run cooler which I for one have issues with, but there hasn’t been any dyno testing to date and no exhaust gas analysis under load so who really knows whats besides they make the engine run cooler?
So I wait as well
