How good is this my Tenere rego is due on Jan 5 and this takes affect Jan 1 so I will be able to get the cheaper rate
I recently rego’ed the XR and the green slip was only $205 which for something we have to have because we live in NSW thats cheap enough in my opinion, nothing would be better but thats not going to happen in a real world. The rego was $109

Motorcyclists to pay less for green slips from next yearHeath Aston

MOTORCYCLISTS are celebrating a rare U-turn in the rising price of compulsory insurance.
Following a state government review of dramatic recent increases, the cost of green slips will fall by an average 12 per cent from January 1. The cost to take out compulsory third-party insurance on a 225cc motorbike will drop from an average $194 to $157, or 19 per cent, while riders of bikes more powerful than 1326cc will save themselves $91, as prices will decrease in that category to $596. The only class of bike to attract an increase will be 1126cc to 1325cc – up from $773 to $802 next year.
The Minister for Finance, Greg Pearce, was forced to act on prices after The Sun-Herald revealed in September that NSW motorists were being gouged by insurers. ”This is a great win for motorcyclists who for too long have been paying green slip premiums out of step with the risks associated with riding a motorbike,” Mr Pearce, who has also announced he would block the $77 rise for vehicles requested by leading insurers, said.
The Motorcycle Council of NSW, which represents more than 41 motorbike clubs and 36,000 riders, welcomed the decrease but said bikers were still paying too much.TB

Aaron dont get me started  Happy to pay rego and insurance but at a fair price. Insurance companies are kicking and screaming over this as they have to recoup their losses from last years floods and all the other disasters that have recently occured. I was in the sub 300cc price bracket I got hit with a massive rise when they turned the rego scheme from 3 categories into 4. so we are only getting back what justifiably is ours anyway
I think the system is archaic and it should be priced according to the risk involved Ie why is my dirt squirter that is getting used less and less paying the same money as a young revhead on a 600cc 4 cylinder roady that gets commuted everyday ? thats my 2 bob at least it is good to see the Libs making a positive change.

December 19, 2011 at 12:26 pm #213413That’s good news, I will save $91. My 1584cc Pig will be cheaper than a 1126cc to 1325cc beast. Go figure
December 19, 2011 at 1:14 pm #213416Ollie in today’s day and age any decrease is a win even if it’s a single dollar it WENT DOWN :woohoo: . Everything goes up, if rego was only 30 bucks people would want it for 29 and so on. As for the young rev head on the 600cc roadie paying the same as you that’s not right as he does pay more. I just ran the comparison thing and under the same post code as me but at an age of 22 on a 600cc he pays $327.51 against me if I had a 300cc would cost me $205.51. The price difference between the two would be the same in your area only it may cost more because you may live in a higher risk area
Remember also having your bike fully insured, a clean points slate and a good no claim bonus helpsTB
December 21, 2011 at 2:35 am #213414It took a long time and a lot of work by a lot of peopl but riders of NSW finally got a change for the better.
This shows that the MAA has finally grown a spine and is standing up for oru rights in NSW.
This was a long hard struggle and a lot of people put in a lot of work indeed.
The MCC is going to maintain the work initiated at the CTP Protest rally in Aug 2010.
We have regular meetings with the MAA to work out the issues.
Get back to me with feedback and or input.
We have on the agenda things like single seat rego and other items.
As I stated in the article, it is a good start but we are still getting ripped off.
Merry Christmas to all.

0418 486 660Yes single seat rego why can QLD have it but we can’t . 2 up sucks on any bike but especially an enduro machine . It’s hard to hurt a pillion if they are not on the bike. Seems obvious but I suppose the people that are hurting more of the third parties (as pillions)are on bigger road bikes etc. They wont like paying more.
March 21, 2012 at 11:39 pm #213553and we are still working on Recreational Registration as well.
