AnonymousWhen chosing my bike I didn’t have an affinity for any particular brand but was leaning toward the Husky’s as they were fuel injected. I rode a TE510 (on the raod down near Sydney) and was impressed with the motor. It had HEAPS of top end and great power all the way through the rev range. Thing is I’m not a massive fan of the way it looks, it felt really tall and (after riding the other bikes) the ergo’s didn’t fell quite as ‘racey’, which is what I wanted.
The Honda was good, didn’t get a ride, only a sit down but was concerned about valve issues as I had heard bad things. Nice looking bike though. After having a go on one after getting my bike I found the engine and brakes to be lacking in performance and the bars too narrow. The gearbox is a delight to use and the suspension (particularly the front) was much better than the Kato. Although the suspension wasn’t set up for me on my bike, it wasn’t on the Honda either.
I rode a Yamaha WR250 and quite liked it, but again the ergo’s didn’t make me feel at home like the KTM did and the I found the engine lacking compared to the Kato. I have subsequently seen plenty of issues with WR clutches and other guys having troubles getting them jetted properly. Again I found the stock forks better than the Kato.
All up I liked the KTM the best, and that’s what I bought. The service intervals are the same as the Honda and the WR (unless you get the pussy 250R version). I am happy with my decision and have had no major issues with bike except needing to get the suspension sorted which I would have had to have done on the other bikes anyway.
My next 4 stroke will be the new Husaberg if anything

AnonymousHey Moto, Go to hell. Very sly. Pussy 250R model. Nothing wrong with something that you can ride and ride and ride and then still not have to worry about oil changes and valve problems.
I did deserve this considering the KTM bashing that I SOMETIMES (all the time) dish out.

March 10, 2009 at 5:09 am #109865Nice Bike Moto!! I like it. Something I learnt about My Husky. The 610 has the exact measurements of the Honda CR500. Same height, head rake, wheel base. I had a thing for an Old CR250 i owned years back. it was an 82 mod. most comfortable all day bike I ever had. cause i was heaps fitter then, so maybe the All day thing is more me than bike? After the Amamoor ride I’m thinking of scraping up some $’s to get a hold of an older 250 for the single hard working trails. My Husky is rather brutish to toss about. maybe I should just by a Gym and some cement pills??
Again Moto..I like that bike!

March 10, 2009 at 5:23 am #109866I would sticker my bike up like that..but I cant ride for crap so it’d just make me look a bigger Dickhead than I am, which can be rather substantial as it is. Pity. Ohh..thwen there’s the part where they dont cut them for the 610’s unless i supply plastics.
March 10, 2009 at 5:24 am #109867Moto..curiopus about the ABS bashplate.. Does it work well or do you have doubts on its ability ? Wondering is all?

It’s a personal thing if we all had the same tastes the world would be boring.
