May 8, 2010 at 8:25 pm #178323Tripper and I pre ran the two loops yesterday morning, I have set out two loops with a bit of everything in them. Loop 1 is 16km long and took us 27 minutes to do at a reasonable pace. It has 3 testing uphills that see you go from 10 meters above see level to about 450 meters above (not too hard though) , tight walking pace single through rainforest, single through hardwood forest, one down hill is a disused firetrail, over grown with grass with a single down the guts. I thought I would include some Louee like, rocky sections to keep everyone on their toes as well as some nice loamy single too. In order to link all this up it requires for you to do about 1km of firetrail as one trail I was gunna use was just too rutted and it took us a good 20 minutes to go 1km on our first run and it was extremely taxing on body and bike.
Some pics from yesterdays pre run, just to get the juices flowing
in the rainforest
Some of it is real tight
here is the rutty hill we decided to cut out
Rutts like this would give Boony the rutt king an unfair advantage
We pause in this report for a word from our sponsor.
There is some more open sections that are a real hoot with erosion mounds for a bit of air time as well as some top gear sections
Loop 2 is only 10km long and has three uphills, one a bit rocky and the other two are just plain rutted and rocky. It also has a nice loamy rain forest section and a over grown down hill that will be a sweet single by the time you guys ride it, another 1km section of main firetrail will let you get your breath back, before you drop back down into the valley floor via a grassy ridge with a single trail winding its way down.
You’ll get to see some nice scenery on this loop too
We didn’t time ourselves around this loop but I am thinking it would take about 20 minutes given a red hot go. After yesterday’s pre run I am convinced you will love the varied terrain, actually some of these trails are some of my favourite trails around this area. I cant wait to get out their again. Bring on the poker run I say.
May 8, 2010 at 9:19 pm #178459Oh good on yah mick,, now everyone will be biting at the bit to get there, I know I now am and your right them rutts would have given me an easy and reliable place to overtake everyone :laugh:sounds like a long game of poker is in order,, may need to bring some tactics into this game ,,and seeing Bollocks is one of me team mates who knows what we may come up with.
that piccy with the jerky in ya mouth make ya mouth look like the keys off an old pub piano, some black, some white, and some missing.
great report,please keep them coming.
is there a shuttle bus or something to get to the B&B from drinkkies on friday night???Boony
May 8, 2010 at 9:19 pm #178460Fair go Mick whats with all the photo’s? This ride is to far away for me to get this excited LOL
May 8, 2010 at 9:38 pm #178464hahhaha Boony I thought the same about that Jerky photo. Handsome chap aren’t I?? Also forgot to add that both loops start from the same place in opposite directions.so the bbq etc is all central like.
All up the poker run will be 62km long, plus another 26km in sighting laps and another 6km in transport to the start and back to the cars, so it should be just doable on a tank of fuel.
We are coming down this hill that caused a bit of strife going up it on my birthday bash,I think I will go out and cut a track around this shit fight.
I suppose we can organise a bus to the RSL for you, it will depend on how many stay at the Farmstay as it is outside the normal bus route and if we have at least 8 staying there they will go out there to get you.
May 8, 2010 at 9:47 pm #178471Those trails look great Mick. I was looking on the sight at the grading system, what grade would you give the poker run ?
May 8, 2010 at 9:50 pm #178474grading ,,smading,,ask TB about the chichester gradings, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: 4 to 2 instantly(absolute ball),they look about a 3 to 4 grading in my eyes??

There is an option for riders to cut it out of the loop if they like but in doing so they will miss some other great stuff and shorten the 16km loop by about 2kms. I plotted this loop to appeal to all comers
