September 15, 2009 at 8:08 am #152870Just got back from the SHED,it went like this,,, I grabbed a beer and stood very, very still and focused on the rear wheel of my trusty steed and then took a rather large sip of the DR and thought to myself, Golly gosh that Kenda Budds Creek looks good on the rear wheelof that there DRZ so why not just leave it there, I then took another rather large sip and walk out of the shed saying to my self,,Self you are ready for louee, bring it on….
September 15, 2009 at 8:15 am #152872I have moved this thread to general talk as Boonys last post showed its not serious after all, go back to drinking beer Boony

September 15, 2009 at 8:25 am #152875This thread was dead serious, i just read all the replies and thought that the tire i had on was adequate for what I would require at Louee.. My decision was not alcohol based it was based on all of the responces from my question. The general comments actually steered me away from using a fortune brand tire and to go with a tire that actually has an adequate side wall strenght for the terrain within the louee complex of which was already on my bike. i will just replace it when i return.
Thats why I asked the question…September 15, 2009 at 8:41 am #152876Boony wrote:

September 15, 2009 at 9:21 am #152821Your best off using a half bald tyre out there thats for hard conditions…. Lots of rock and loose gravel

Both bikes have about have the tread left and I rekon that’ll do.

Quote:I have a Dunlop 952 on the back (756 on the front) and it seems fine with all the rocky stuff. I normally run 14 psi but as TB said 18 psi would be better at Louee. There are some rocky parts right up the back.I have a Carsbad on the back of the Husky and it’s going ok. Has got me up most hills and even gripped enough to flip on one hill. What issues have you had with them ECKS?
Not happy with the grip – at least where I generally ride (Catombal etc). Louee is similar riding conditions to Catombal incidentally. They just don’t hang on in the hard shaley loose rock. Especially hate the fronts, but wouldn’t get one, front or rear, again. Not with so many other better options out there.
September 15, 2009 at 11:29 am #152891im gonna run my trustsy S12 at about 10psi…..max.
with an ultra HD tube.
it cant be any rockier than where i ride normally and thats what i run there.
i might turn it around though….just to chuck bigger rocks  :laugh:ill buy a new one at coffs, or mayby from suttos if i get up there early enough thursday, or maybe my good mate TB will pick me up one while he is down there watering himself
September 15, 2009 at 9:29 pm #152901I will pick it up for you Menace, no problems at all. 10 psi at Louee with a ultra heavy duty tube eh? Interesting, from experience out there 18 psi and ultra heavy duty for me

September 15, 2009 at 9:49 pm #152920I have decided to save myself the disappointment of holeing a side wall and am taking a IRC with a pre holed side wall

AnonymousI was thinking the same Menace, I ride in some rocky areas here (Murph’s basin run had it;s fair share of big rocks) and my tyre was all good at 12.5psi. I guess like every ride you get there and see what the deal is and adjust to suit
