MurphDecember 28, 2009 at 10:04 pm #166440Adjusted the rear brake down for yesterday’s ride and it was a lot better but I need to lift it back up a little now. Idle was perfect as well so down hills were a lot easier. Probably also made easier by being able to actually see where you’d end up if you fell too, funny how that will distract you!
I’m definitely keen to run it again though Murph – can’t let it have the better of me!
December 28, 2009 at 10:05 pm #166446p.s I got 15mins of footage that I’ll upload today but it’s not great I think.

Quote:It’s a new bike not a new born! I bought it to enjoy it and that’s what I’ve done for the last two days looking like this guy inside my helmetOf course I didn’t buy it to belt it up and it’s a pretty funny coincidence that I did that the first ride out but what’s even funnier is that I dropped it along the road before I even got it into the bush! What I wanted to do and should really have done is take it out for a few easy rides first to get it set up right and then tackle the heavy stuff. I was just too eager to ride and that’s the way the cards fell.
p.s. Chicks dig scars :p
Yeah AB
Full marks from me for taking on a Murph ride on the first run on a totally different type of bike as well!!!
Even more so in the wet conditions,,,, That is something that I would never never consider I can safely say :laugh:I would have loved to see you go arse up on the tar at Murphs though when you slid out   That almost beats Tiny`s effort at Hill End Pub
almost

AnonymousMy first ride on my smoker was a Murphsberg run too and like you AB I threw it away a few times
My Hyde bashie/pipe guard saved my pipe that first ride, it’s partially broken now though and I have a B&B bashie on the way so my pipe will be exposed to the elements!
Glad to hear you like it.

Ollie
I dont rate the Hyde plastic jobs at all, tend to be big shit collectors
December 30, 2009 at 9:40 pm #166627I’ll probably just buy one of the ballards HD alloy pipe protectors – I’m still not sure though because I think it I had a protector on this ride it would’ve just bent the whole pipe. It was a steep ledged downhill and I locked up and stalled then the weight and momentum of the bike would’ve dropped on the pipe on a rock as I went off the cliff :p
I don’t expect to be falling like that too often even though I did similar 2mins after – I’ve set the bike up now though so not locking up the rear accidentally and Murph helped me get it idling.
January 4, 2010 at 12:13 am #166647I bought a GPS a little while ago and I’m playing around with the track log business and I think I can post a pic of the run we did. If this shouldn’t be public anyone can PM me and I’ll take it down.
January 4, 2010 at 1:39 am #166968Looks like a Murphbergs ride AB. Round and F$%king round all bloody day.
With your pipe guard, I run a hyde (like Menace) and landed it heavily on the pipe side at a Murphsberg ride and it didn’t have a mark on the pipe. Surprised the hell out of me too, I thought it would have caved in.
It takes a while to adjust to the two stroke, but once you do you’ll love it.
January 4, 2010 at 2:26 am #166329Well done AB

MurphI have a Garmin Map76 which works really well,,, only downfall is its size, being a bit larger than some of the more current units.
I have it mounted on the bike at the moment but it will be coming off again soonIt rarely drops satellites, even in the thickest of scrub & thats usually when it is in my pocket
