May 13, 2012 at 1:02 pm #221675Thanks for the great ride Murph.
Thank also to Tim and CJ for leading and Dude for the sweeping.
And thanks to all the other guys for the great ride.
Well Murph and Tim, the ride started off easy (for a Murph ride) with some singles and easyer hills but after lunch you guys really stepped it up and found us some very nice energy sucking hills. Can’t remember them all but one of them took me 3 goes to get to the top with one big stack that sucked all the energy out of me  . Then the next hill l think l looped the bike out 3 times getting to the top. But got there with no help and no rope  non the less
👿 .
Great ride.
Thrillseeker.

More photos posted in do it yourself ThreadMay 14, 2012 at 11:31 pm #221695Just out of interest, how would you guys rate (3/4/5(?)) the hills we did?
Without knowing the names:
The one after the basin campsite with the concrete slab.
The rocky step ups where holeshot left us.
The first section of bar(?) hill before the left turn.
The last section of bar hill where I got caught on the step.
May 15, 2012 at 1:36 pm #221793Hey Hesso
I’m hopless at grading, i call it 4ft when other surfers are calling 6ft.
I would class the concrete hill 3/4
Rocky spur, grade 4+ if you ride straight up the steps at the top
The first section of Bar hill 3/4
Second section 4+ but not quite a 5
And the hill you missed out on was Wave Rock which would be a 4 if you take the left single before the cliff/serious steps.
Tim had five attempts at that section and didn’t get it, so I would put that at 5+
We are all different and to me a grade 5 is something that can’t be done without stopping/changing direction/lifting the bike over obsticles. I guess its a hill that I would really struggle on. 👿
On saying that it is possible for me to struggle on a grade 4 hill.
Amazon on our “three hills ride” is a classic grade 5 hill.
Hope to catch up again soon, mate
Cheers

I find it hard to grade certain hills as a hill I might struggle on could be relatively easy for someone else.
I guess it is not an exact science.
Cheers
